  1. My goals for 2020 will be very simple. I can simply 'cut and paste' from 2019 because nothing was accomplished. Between an extended annual and a delayed paint job, the plane has been unavailable for over 6 months of the year (but luckily not consecutive). The water crossing was completed on the flight to Oshkosh, but in the right seat of a friend's M20J so even that doesn't count. ...and 2020 isn't looking any better since my home drome is closing for two months in the spring to complete the runway extension. Happy New Year! ....and the avatar is awaiting paint, too.
  2. My KFIT hangar is kept at a comfortable 55 degrees ...for the friend who is borrowing it to work on his Cherokee. My Mooney is now in even colder climes (but like aviatorb, they're used to the chill up there) and manage it well. Yes, I get pics every Monday as agreed to up front. ...and I'm also surprised. To be fair, the strip was much more difficult than expected (one of the painter's worst ever, as described and seen in the pictures) and caused a majority of the delay early on. Hopefully, you just can't rush perfection... ...but at this point, I expect it to be completed just in time for it's Annual.
  3. Since mine has taken more than twice that time (so far) it should be absolutely amazing, right?
  4. Gorgeous! And a nice price, too. How long did the job take? (My avatar is still waiting for my paint shop to finish - strip and prime completed so far.....)
  5. PM sent with recent quotes from the New England area.
  6. Aviation application was asked in a Ferrari board last year and a company representative's answer and the current FAQ about UL certification are posted below (along with the links for this information): https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/element-fire-extinguisher-an-introduction.564980/page-4 and https://elementfire.com/pages/faqs First Link: Aug 12, 2018
  7. Less than one!
  8. My days of being an "age denier" are quickly passing. Approaching my 60th birthday, I applied for a new car insurance policy and was asked if I'd taken a Senior Driving Course in the past 3 years. So I took the 4 hour online course to get the discount and learned: "Some things get better with age! Vision, hearing, mobility, cognition and reflexes (unfortunately) do not. " Although "rubber on road" focused, the lessons were easily transferable to piloting skills. It's critically important for the safety of both you and others to recognize your limitations. ...and last year my doc told me to quit distance running if I want to keep my inborn hips, so there's that, too. Dave
  9. Yup, especially since the dual purpose vomit/ urine bags that are now tucked in the seat pocket seem inconspicuous since they're expected on any airliner.
  10. Devastating news; such an incredible effort by all who loved and surrounded him. I feel for them all.
  11. More likely, it's "Hose B". (Welcome back, Jose! We missed you.)
  12. Maybe. Let me check the office collection.
  13. My inability to locate XSE under www.airnav.com perplexed me..... Which led to a new resource for non - North American codes: https://www.world-airport-codes.com/burkina-faso/sebba-6755.html Although the 100LL may be quite a discount there, @Stetson20 , I think I'll pass
  14. "I'll always remember my first J-Bar retract." ....doesn't everyone? Thanks for the memory, @PilotCoyote! Seems like just yesterday..... Congratulations and enjoy that beautiful aircraft.
  15. I needed to look that one up.... so it's my 'word of the day'. Thanks! FLIB Funny Little Itinerant Blip (military slang for commercial aircraft)
  16. My goto is airnav https://www.airnav.com/airport/KHTS https://www.airnav.com/airport/74P
  17. I'm finding it's tough to fit the 12" numbers along with the "waving stripes" detail on a short body. ...but my painter has cautioned against anything smaller - probably because an extended downwind on the way to his shop could see a violation (he's less than 5nm from the Canadian border). @Planegary, that's quite a difference from start to finish! Nice looking aircraft, enjoy it!
  18. Are you in mass production and bartering yet? It's worth a Jim Beam (and maybe even Ezra if postage is included).
  19. Nice Paint! What a great look for a Mooney.
  20. My first in years was an ICAO VFR flight plan that was required for the Canada overflight (Buffalo to Port Huron) on the way to OSH. I learned a bunch about my avionics in the process.
  21. Yup, purchased used scuba vests with blowup tubes off Craigslist for $10 each before my first flight over real water and wore them. (They threw in free swim fins, but I don't carry those.) However, I couldn't find a cheap PLB. If anyone is selling a used ResQLink+, I'm interested. That halfway explains an odd email I recently received from a CFI last week stating "When was your private pilot checkride? I see a date in my files of 9/19/18. Is that correct?" (Nope, not even close.) Do you have a pointer to an explanation and a way to correct it?
  22. I call her Moondance; the early '70s Van Morrison tune is as classic as she is and really sings to our relationship in so many ways. http://www.metrolyrics.com/moondance-lyrics-van-morrison.html
  23. I'm having the baby-poo stripes stripped off and repainting with some shade of blue. (I refuse to be a slave to fashion.)
  24. Nice looking E! It's got all the goods but still has the simple basics (manual flaps, J-Bar). Love it, Congratulations. Someone selling because they didn't like the ADS-B 2020 deadline?
  25. mine works nicely (nice and level; rigged for single pilot so I draw from the right tank first if I have a passenger). From what I heard from a previous owner, the rigging took several efforts to get right. I assume it will have to be re-rigged after a paint job. Is there anything I can do before dropping it off at the paint shop to make the job easier?
