Was able to remove and service Flap Pump and Valve Assy along with parking brake valve. Took some fine tuning but got it right. Now to observe for any leakage... 1FC185B7-E21C-4028-B364-3538733FB97D.MOV -

Inner Gear Doors on a Johnson Bar Mooney
Captnmack replied to M20F-1968's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
Boy John, I figured you had them. My F had them installed and removed at some point. When I was buying my F we were doing the gear swing and noticed one of the aft fairings was missing, I could tell because on the paint shadow and the fact there was one on the rights side. Also the door brackets are still installed. I too called Lasar and spoke with Dan and I believe I also spoke to Paul Loewen. They both said the doors were $700 each and without an Electrical Gear it gets very difficult to raise as the previous comment indicated. Dan also said I should remove the existing “Spad” ( aft fairing) as without the door to seal it, it’s just a drag, so off it came. I did put it on the gear to remove the interior cover behind the J-Bar and looked while it was up. I can see that rotating the calipers will help a lot. So, I would rather spend the unnecessary dollars and put a 1 piece belly on! Mack 68F -

Captnmack replied to bob865's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
Just removed mine along with half the airplane too...probably will end up overhauling the engine while I’m at it..... -
I just ordered a complete set for my F from Lasar...a lot more than $20 ea!

Hey guys..I removed my Cabin Vent duct assy (#26) today. It’s a cheap plastic type assy. Could probably glass over it but wondering if anyone has done the same. 68’ F Mack

AeroVonics AV-20, clocks and minor mods
Captnmack replied to 1964-M20E's topic in Avionics/Panel Discussion
Remember that this Clock requirement stems from, no Gyro Timed Turns, Holding Patterns Entry and Leg Lengths and Timing Missed Approach Points..thus making a Direct View Clock a necessity... -

Mooney Hanger Elves at Hagerstown save Christmas
Captnmack replied to Stephen Skinner's topic in General Mooney Talk
I am a member of the BMW MOA, 2 wheel owners, and we have an “anonymous book” that list people who are will to help in cases like the one described. I have not seen the “map” so perhaps it should be re-posted or have a prominent link... Mack -
So I found out that a new “J” spinner will run $2500 if I chose to go with the ARI mod while using the 3 Blade McCauley. I could offset that cost by selling the Spinner that came with the prop, maybe. Not sure of value but it is low time. That would bring the cost to do the ARI to almost $3500 getting close to Dave’s cowl but still would need Spinner. So most likely I will just stick with installing the Lasar mod and use the Spinner I have. Won’t look as cool but maybe I can find a J Spinner later..I’m still looking forward to the McCauley!

Thanks for the reply guys. Here is what I DO know: The STC was originally sold for a “C” Mooney, #2808, using a PL-60152 STC Kit. The STC and Propeller itself covers all Vintage Mooneys, however the difference is whether or not the cowling has been moded to a J style. If that is the case then the Entire Spinner assembly needs to be a PL-60153 Kit. I’m not smart enough to assertain the differences. I asked the ARI guy (thru eBay communication channel only) and was informed that I have an incompatible Spinner Assy. Hell, it looks great but needs to be a “J” to be correct, that a few$$. I sent a call out to Lasar to see if the uninstalled Lasar Mod I have is compatible. All of this might sway my cowl mod dilemma. Thats what I know.. ps, Dave, does your Mod also need the J Spinner?

Hello and Happy Holidays to all. Im looking for the owner or status of a M20-C sn 2808. That’s all I have. I bought a McCauley 3 Blade From an individual and the original paperwork indicates it was sold for a C #2808. The STC covers all Vintage models but it’s the Spinner application that has me guessing. I am installing it on my F that has a “yet to be determined” cowling mod. The last aircraft the prop was on was a C-170 so cowling not a factor in that respect. I’m thinking of installing (for now) the ARI mod and the mystery ARI guy said it to be sure it is for a “J”..I’m assuming it’s the Bulkhead that matters? I cannot discern any part numbers on either Spinner or Bulkhead. Any help elp would be appreciated. Happy Holidays to all. Mack

ARI mod and Wing Landing lights?
Captnmack replied to Captnmack's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
Rob, I would like to say fantastic progress but that’s not the case. I DID get it moved into a nice Hangar if that counts...Currently I am still collecting parts and stuff, just bought a prop to replace my current one that was at TBO. So once I get some other non-Aviation projects under control perhaps I can resume or start progress! -
ARI mod and Wing Landing lights?

Andy, I actually have the mod in my collection of mods to do. I think the ARI looks slightly better. I really want Dave’s! -

Rob, You were easy to communicate with and have a website. It’s not that I don’t or have never purchased on eBay, in fact, that’s where I bought my Mooney! eBay has too many hurdles in just trying to actually talk to someone. I know the ARI mod has been around for a while but is this the same guy? Mack -
Hey Paul, Did you by the Glareshield from Spruce? 68 F Mack.

ARI mod and Wing Landing lights?

I’m reviving this thread. Has anyone purchased the ARI mod on eBay? I really want Dave’s cowl mod but looking at cost now as I just purchased a new (used) prop. I think it might be a good compromise but I dislike the eBay only thing? I like being able to communicate with folks. Mack
