  1. Unfortunately once installed usually cannot be adjusted. It’s an interference fit, Ring Gear gets heated, support gets cooled. Once slipped over and cools it’s on there..
  2. Sky Tech starter saga continues: Ok, picked up a new S/T 149-NL today, went back to plane and installed it only to discover that the Ring Gear/Pinion Gear fitment is too close, the Ring Gear slightly rubs the Starter Pinion. I asked a more experienced A&P who was doing an annual on a “J”. Compared its same 149-NL installation, fitment tolerances, called Hartzell Eng Technology in AL and got some great Tech Asst from Allen. Was told that Superior Ring Gears are slightly thicker and thus that might be the problem and learned that the installed Rind Gear is an “ECI” part. Hmm, maybe that’s it! But alas, after closer inspection I discovered that the Ring Gear was NOT PROPERLY installed when it was installed last, ie..not seated all the way. So now I must tell owner to cough up another $175 for new Ring Gear, pull Prop and do it right this time. This will correct the Starter fitment issue...Argg!
  3. Ok all, I pulled the 18lb Boat Anchor off the C as well as the one on my dormant F, it’s a Lightweight Sky Tech LS. I was going to just swap out so we could fly but it would have taken some Baffle Mod so I’m just going to wait till Monday and get a Sky Tech locally as opposed to O/H the Prestolight. Missed a great opportunity to fly up to Kansas to visit my youngest at KU....
  4. Hey folks...So the starter on a “C” that I GET to fly is not functioning correctly. Looking at just replacing the Bendix but I have a starter on an “F (IO360) that I can rob. Does anyone know if ring gears are the same?
  5. To the two previous posters that have the A3B6 installed. What prop are you running, which cowl and overall opinion? I’m thinking about selling the Firewall Forward package I bought last spring..
  6. Technically there is NO legal requirement to replace or repair Truss for such a small dent. I asked a well know Mooney Service Center about dents and was told unless it’s really bad then just monitor.
  7. All the required parts for a mod like this are STILL available from Mooney. It really would be fairly simple as the wings are the same. I took have thought about it. John Breda is the one to talk to as his was accomplished under a DER...
  8. Is the owner of N1940Y, 66’ E here...? I met the previous owner... Mack
  9. Hello, is that price per side or pair?
  10. Yes...Lasar has that STC.
  11. I just finished an annual on a C that had a gap at the front of the door on the right. I found the hinges were slightly bent. Straighten them out a solved the issue.
  12. So the thinking is that you do not want to be that pilot who makes noise when the pitch changes so my suggestion is to go to full when you have the least amount of throttle . That way the sound profile is reduced....
  13. Well, I called Dan, he knows me by name now. Anyway, the HE units are long gone and no parts. He did say that the part in question is of little concern however this unit should be dissembled and cleaned at least at annuals. The plunger was slightly rusted and was difficult to pull up...
  14. Anyone have the 411 on the inner parts of the Fuel Gasolator / Strainer , namely the plunger rod that allows fuel to be drained on pre flight?
  15. Limey...Great choice to join up prior to getting a plane. I live in Weatherford and have an F project and fly another C at Parker county. PM me if you want. There are about 6 or 7 Mooney’s here..
  16. Hello, Did you sell this spinner?
  17. Did you just get a Field Approval for those Yokes?
  18. Well I started an annual on a 64 C and found what I did not want to find..and it’s been there a while too...Guess it’s not going to be flying soon...
  19. I donated last night but still can’t list anything for sale...
  20. Hey y’all, Is there an agenda yet for each day? Of course there is something else that conflicts with those days and wanting to determine if I can do some of both.
  21. I’ve seen this advertised before and saw this F last week when I dropped off a Propeller at the shop. I will probably go get checked out while mine is in pieces!
  22. Then there needs to be a process for deleting posts..
  23. I bought a low time J engine ( A3B6 ) and Cowling setup. My A1A was dormant for years and it’s a candidate for Overhaul anyway. Lasar sells the STC to swap over to the Counter-Weighted but reaching out to anyone that actually has done this. I’m going to try and use the 201 ( J ) cowl as well.
  24. Hello all, Who all has gone from there trusty A1A to an A3B6 series? Going on an 68 F. regards
  25. Yeah..I bought the Formers from Mooney but yet to install and don’t expect anymore than just a logbook entry and W&B change.
