  1. Get the Telligence, believe available on 650 and 750. PTT on right, say tune com1. Or Tune nearest or destination AWOS, tower, app, say distance from airport. . . list is expansive. Need at least 650 to get new features of GFC500, that will be released, such as glide advisor that came out awhile back. Hit button, plane turns you to nearest airport you CAN MAKE, while you go thru checklists to diagnose the issue. happy shopping.
  2. Only a few buttons to memorize, verify everything on ur screen. Horizontal Nav on left —Vertical Nav on right.
  3. Move radios to center. 7 in far right slightly angled toward pilot. And remote audio pane—Do it all on G3X
  4. Mount the GFC 507 directly above throttle. Where mine is, and I love it. Hand sits near there most time anyway. You don’t want to be reaching way over there
  5. Why BM? you and your physician are IN control NOT the FAA. Mine was way more comprehensive then Class3 5 year renewal J ppl normally <18k anyway J’s are well with GW limits for BM if you have had a valid Medical you qualify for BM. This is more for >50. For example, you schedule your Class3, if nice AME ask him/her to complete entire exam before logging in. According to AME test begins when he logs in. This way, let’s say your vision was off because you didn’t memorize the letters which some savvy ppl have suggested, not mentioning any names—Hank, then there can be NO failure if he/she has not logged in. Pay the fee, Fix the eyes and go back. If AME logs in, and any part is not satisfactory FAA is now involved. remember If you had a valid Med, you qualify for BM. If you fail any part of your Class 1,2 or 3 medical at renewal then NO BM because requirement to have had a valid Med in past X years won’t be met by the failure. Just something to think about for older folks like me.
  6. picturesque landscape, thanks for sharing.
  7. Owner is in capable hands now. Sucks to pay for rework, but can rest assured, Clarence will sort everything out correctly the first time. An MSC is only as good as their worst mechanic, and he missed the rivets staring him down. Inexcusable.
  8. All Mooney’s have key codes. Call Factory get your code, send to dude on eBay get your keys. I posted few years back “replacement key source”
  9. If going over a hump, Minor pressure downward on sidewinder, otherwise no effort. May consider portability too.
  10. Yes. Only once, was on final, gusts that made you feel like a rodeo bull rider, the AS needle looked like a mini windshield wiper. You have good amount of time in your J, so if it isn’t performing as YOU have come to expect, something ain’t right. If flown by numbers and that remains constant, any deviation in performance is the first sign that further investigation is necessary. Kudos to you for identifying potential issue What FPM on climb out? Settings? if you give settings and performance you see, u can compare to other J drivers and what they are seeing. Does 3 always burn hot? First to peak? pull #3 plugs throw 2 new in. Its cheap and if goes away u know was fouled plug and hopefully issue doesn’t reoccur
  11. ASK JERRY! Passed on tons of knowledge, always looked forward to reading his maintenance articles.
  12. Clarence would know, my guess is fell out of some mechanics pocket when he crawled under 7/16 is massive relative to the 3/8’s everywhere. Linkages behind throttle quadrant are 3/8 I believe. It didn’t come from firewall aft. Don’t recall nuts that big on seat assembly either.
  13. Agreed. Amazing engineering. Unmatched.
  14. If compass isn’t in the GS, Nothing too complicated, it’s just wedged in there real GOOD. I mean good. Look thru windscreen for a screws on both left and right side. Possibly some on front of GS attaching to panel, probably some hook and loop tape in there too. On right side you may have a panel light connector that will need be disconnected. As the GS is lifted you will have access to plug b4 pulling out GS.
  15. 86 in favor of SCS mats kit.
  16. Yup, Hector at AeroComfort
  17. Try sliding out everything you can in center stack, if that doesn’t give you access, remove trays. . .
  18. Not so much what you use as much as HOW you use it. No Karate Kid wax on wax off circular movements. Fold the yellow, Swipe down flip yellow towel to clean side swipe down…
  19. Don’t over think it. Use the POH. Failure of gear to retract section. Little red button allows gear to stop where you release. It’s enough to get the ones that won’t take grease otherwise.
  20. Review this section.
  21. Ok good for you not to just take their word, do your own thing, find something that suits YOUR mission. Were the Negative Nancy’s owners? So list the negative opinions. You can check out Mike’s video on YT about the 201 dispensing with many myths.
  22. Not for me you didn’t. I asked for 13” 2.5dia. Received 1 hose with different dia on each end and the replacement hose had correct dia but too long. You said to cut to length which was impossible without exposing banding and eliminates the finished end. I didn’t have to trim anything and got exact size I ordered From these guys. https://customductsaircraftsceetandscat.com
  23. Firewall fwd hoses old? Holes burned from exhaust? After that inspection, remove Right seat, crawl under and check hoses. Easy fix for these hoses. Only the 2 defrost hoses are PITA. On 1 hose, GeeBee sent wrong dia hose twice, so I ordered from these guys and it was half the cost. https://customductsaircraftsceetandscat.com/about-ducting/ Took 5 days for custom length.
  24. Had similar, top screw popped out and panel sheared and bent between top 2 screws. Simple panel to cut, opposite side is mirror image can use as as template. But you need the beed rolled on 1 side. I would try Jerry or Alan first unless you have beed roller or access to 1.
