  1. Ugh! Then you either have to find a place where it will not get knocked over, or you play "BOMBS AWAY!"
  2. 750 ml?!? The minimum volume should be at least one liter. Travel Johns fit the bill, and they solidify to avoid spills. Also available from Amazon.
  3. The opening is not big enough. You knew somebody would say that.
  4. I spent another three hours looking for that damn thing and found nothing! Checked the tail, too. Any ideas would be most appreciated.
  5. Ugh! I looked and looked for anything like that, but could find nothing. I may just jump the lead to the pot that works. It only lights two indicators as of now.
  6. I just had this same sort of failure. The glare shield lights became intermittent, now they are completely dead. The really annoying thing is that it is so difficult to diagnose, since the voltage is there, but the current is not. I am pretty sure the transistor in the circuit has failed. Can anybody tell me where to find it and what is a suitable replacement? (1978 J-model)
  7. PM me for details.
  8. It depends on a few things. F-16s have seats that are tilted back, so they can take a little more than a more upright seat. Some other aircraft may also have that. The pilot's body shape and composition are important. Shorter can take more Gs than taller; more muscular build can take more; amount and recency of G-experience is also favorable. It also makes a BIG difference how long you hold the Gs. Being ready for the Gs is critical, so you can prepare. The GIB may be looking over his shoulder when the GIF pulls an unexpected maneuver, so the GIB passes out. Tightening your muscles prevents blood from flowing as easily, so you will be able to withstand more Gs. G-suits only add about 1/2G to what you can take. I have been through 6Gs, and it can be painful. I have passed out from Gs, and also temporarily lost my vision due to Gray Out, (or Brown Out). At an airshow, my boss, (F-14 RIO), took a ride with Joann Osterud in her Hiperbipe. At the time, she owned the world record for 206 consecutive outside loops. He said that after three, he was in such pain he had to get back on the ground.
  9. If you want some real fun, there was an article in The Skeptical Inquirer 30 years or so ago about how a guy recreated several of the the Nazca drawings/lines. Or you could make some crop circles. You can always blame it on aliens.
  10. This article has good explanation of the geopolitical mindset that yields this sort of result. https://noahpinion.substack.com/p/why-is-china-smashing-its-tech-industry
  11. The Peak Oil theory was destroyed several years ago when petroleum production hit another peak which was higher than the last one. The theory precluded this, making it obviously refuted. I suggest reading Julian Simon, as opposed to Paul Ehrlich.
  12. Jump to the bottom of your link and you will find "Overwhelming evidences for organic origin of petroleum". I think that does a pretty good job of refuting all the other theories. Quite some time ago, I read about an advocate for one of those abiotic origins of oil convincing his home country's government, (somewhere in Europe, known to not have much oil), to drill extensively where his theory determined oil should be. No surprise, they found nothing.
  13. That coal, (and all fossil fuels), came from prehistoric vegetation that grew using solar radiation, which is caused by fusion. All energy is actually nuclear in origin. QED
  14. You need another category: Military.
  15. I do not have a scanner, but I do lots of printing. If you can create a model, I would be happy to print it. Just make sure you use solids, not surfaces, when you create the model.
  16. Now, instead of hours, convert to miles flown.
  17. Except for that #@$##@$! autopilot box with the sharp corner that pokes the shit out of your calf.
  18. I seem to remember Huey seats moving? And the Cobra seat moving up and down? That was one aircraft I always felt as if I wore it, rather than got into it. In the back seat, that is. All three services, AF ROTC on scholarship, AD Navy, NE ARNG M-Day, T32, and T10.
  19. What is the difference between a toy and a tool? You can deduct the tool from your income tax.
  20. I am surprised you did not get measured at Mother Rucker before flight training. In the Navy, we all got our anthropomorphic measurements to ensure we fit all the aircraft. I was DQed from flying A-7s and barely made A-4s, as my legs were too long. Funny story. Before my class was separated into jets, props, and helos, we had one female student. She said she would be in props, as the last female jet slot for the year was already taken 2-3 months earlier. When we in the jet pipeline got back together a few weeks later, we were really surprised to see Cindy in our class. When we asked if the other woman had flunked out, the answer was "not exactly". She made it through T-2 training just fine, but when it came time to fly the A-4 in that tiny ejection seat... Apparently, nobody ever thought to make anthropomorphic measurements for ass width.
  21. There is a method to cut your costs by 40%....get a good co-owner.
  22. Then there is the cost. A Navy friend was the project officer for renewable fuel in Naval Aviation. He said the F-18 did fine burning the $27/gallon biofuel.
  23. We will not be in Montana until later in the summer.
