  1. Not a Garmin pilot user but you should be able to download all the charts / maps before you leave home. Not sure what setting you need to change on your unit.
  2. Looks like a solid setup to me! Panel looks good like it is, will only get better with the additions you mentioned.
  3. Three things come to mind with this plane... 1. Beautiful plane with a nice 750 and overall condition shows you took care of it. 2. Engine overhauls have a tendency to creep up in price. Things like engine mounts, exhaust rebuilds, backup alternator rebuilds, etc. IMO it is never a good idea to overhaul an engine to sell the plane. In the end you will only get half of it back. 3. Take lots of pictures from every angle making sure there are no wires showing, panels removed, etc. Info on tank reseal, o2 cylinder replacement, rubber donuts, 256 overhaul, etc.
  4. Is it too early to put in offers for the 540/440 Joking aside, my son has a 430w in his plane that is down for maintenance for a couple weeks. He could overnight it to you if it would help the situation...
  5. I'm a foreflight user so the data download feature would go unused. It would be nice though not to worry about upload the data every month. I find the 750 cards take awhile to download with the charts. How fast does it DL in the plane over wifi?
  6. That was the Mooney gods hinting that you need a new acclaim...it's a new marketing strategy they are working on.
  7. Or provide the 510 unit for a reasonable cost of ~$500...might be a market for a 310 model that provided flight plan transfer and nothing else.
  8. I'd also like to know why this bravo was not worth 100k...pm sent.
  9. Many times at Oshkosh the larger manufacturers have substantial rebates on the units you are currently looking at. I purchased my 750/650 around 5 years ago and had both installed for around the same price as the 540/440.
  10. Have to say I'd run like the wind if an avionics shop quoted $55 (30 mins labor and a $5 car part).
  11. When I had my 327 upgraded to the 330es it took one guy a solid day with another person helping out on and off. I was at the shop and the installer was working hard and stayed after ~ an hour to finish the job.
  12. I'm sure the price has an extra zero. 1200 for the upgrade and 2200 for the exchange.
  13. Please give me an address to send my 256 in for the core value...I'm done with it and 40k doesn't sound so bad...
  14. So if you drain the hose are you borrowing from the pilot after you or the city/fbo that feeds the pumps?
  15. There are always variations in individual planes but saying the ovation does not have good short field performance is crazy. Only the 2 blade ovation 2 prop and the 2 blade eagle props were dogs on the ground. A 310 hp three blade hauls ___.
  16. The testing they did for approval / continued to do until people complained about the compatibility (182 running 6.21) is two years overdue for the update. I don't consider waiting two years after a software release being a beta tester. They don't need to continue trying to stay ahead of Garmin...BUT IMO it is the responsibility of Avidyne to download the latest updates for devices they port into and provide notifications to install shops and end users to not continue with certain updates. It would surprise me if the Avidyne static test bed was updated to the newest version within 6 months of a given release. I'm not pro Garmin. In fact I'm not buying a g500 for my panel upgrade. But I feel Avidyne procrastinated on this issue and believe it is completely their responsibility to make it right for the few users that are currently having a problem.
  17. My two cents...I have the 750 and 330es mounted to the right. Over the past 600 hours with this combo I find 9/10ths of the time I control the transponder w/ the 750.
  18. Your 500 was not working with the older software so I'm not sure what form of bs Avidyne is trying to use blame Garmin for this. Might be a good time to buy a nice 750 ...both sell for around 12.5 used if you can find one.
  19. I picked up a panel mount because I was tired of the cord stretching from the far right to my yoke mount. By the time I purchased a Tso'd cigarette power porti was well on my way.
  20. Not good. What do they want you to do? Personally I'd just buy a used 530w asap and get up in the air and dump it when they figure the problem out. Then EVERY single day of Oshkosh I would express to them the importance of having backup units for their customers... They have hundreds of used Garmin units being passed through to their resellers just distribute a few to customers like you. NOT impressed. This solidifies my opinion that Avidyne is going after the masses trying to replace all the 430's, they are not ready or able to satisfy the customers with high end panels. PLEASE Avidyne, prove me wrong.
  21. I thought the flightstream was playing nice with foreflight now?
  22. The problem is the number of people this is affecting is relatively small. However, @AviSimpson please pass on the message that people with deep pockets are paying close attention to how Avidyne takes care of customers in this position. OVERNIGHT a unit that will work with his current setup...even if it's a 530w...
  23. Portable unit to buy some time? Swap com 1 and 2 to see if it's a wire issue? Bypass the audio panel? I really have no idea but do not like problems that are hard to isolate.
  24. Portapotty? I just hang it out the tent fly...don't walk too close you might get wet feet.
  25. Brings back memories of long mountaineering trips with week old undergarments and wet foul smelling wool socks (over my shoulders/under my shirt) to dry as I slept 4 people to a 4 person tent.
