  1. I too have had 700 + Knots GS crossing the Pacific at night in the B747 back when I was on it. Thanks for the temperature information, I'm always interested in real world experience.
  2. Only death and taxes are guaranteed in this life. Look, Im sure your a good man and good pilot. We will just have to agree to disagree on this subject.
  3. All meaningless without a solid airworthy airframe. That's stuff you should check out when you test fly it anyway.
  4. Looks like a Boeing product. Is that a 75?
  5. Who cares if you gyros spin up fast or if your GPS data card is current after discover your spar is corroded out on your first annual? (There was a pour soul on here recently with that exact issue after a PPI) A PPI is not defined it is whatever your guy decides it is. An annual is defined and it is a serious in depth inspection per the FAA. - You can combine that with a flight test as well. Each to his own. Buyer beware.....
  6. http://www.barkeraircraft.com/Engine-dryer-kit.html I just ordered the above kit. I like how it is "fully automatic" and a closed loop system.
  7. http://www.barkeraircraft.com/files/NDc_complete_revied_Nov_2013.pdf You mean a pickle jar? This one interests me, I may go for it.
  8. Cool, great news! It is a great looking cowling mod you have designed. I look forward to hearing the details and seeing the pictures.
  9. Does anyone here use an engine dehydrator? Looking for any PIREPS. Anyone make their own?
  10. Does anyone know of a place that rents out O2 systems? I only need it for a trip to Reno and back so I really don't want to purchase...
  11. Removed all my old fluid out of the resavoir with a turkey baster... refilled with new, bled brakes till all old was gone..... brakes worked a lot better
  12. Lay upside down like a bat on the pilot's side look way up high (w a flashlight) behind the instrument panel against the firewall. There you will find it, and you will probably have to loosen the retaining nut on the firewall engine side in order to get the new filter on without tearing it. (that is the hard one to change) Like the Dr. said there are two. The other large one is easy to get at.
  13. The best of the best
  14. Your electric gear motor probably needs overhauling. I had a similar issues until I had the motor overhauled.
  15. How long it take to get done? What was the cost? It looks nice!
  16. Kelly Aerospace is now the FAA/PMA for parts for the dual mags.
  17. Those probably serve their purpose well. I personally prefer just using the seatbelt. Makes it impossible to forget removing the gust lock because you can't sit down until you "remove it". Physical locks like those you have concern me, if you don't remove them for whatever reason and takeoff, it's over. It brings back a memory of someone I once knew. A great guy, great pilot, careful and professional. Well, somehow he got in a rush on a Baron and left a control lock installed. It was over before he could figure out what was wrong.
  18. What kind of engine is that? Must be a turboprop I see a torque readout on the PFD..
  19. I had the opposite experience...... I did the aerotrim locking fuel cap mod about ten years back. I give it two thumbs down. It advertises DIY, however I had to take my caps to a machine shop and have them do it. You have to cut down the width of the tab you pull to open the cap and drill several holes as well. I spent more then the cost of the kit on the machine shop bill. I suppose you could attempt the DIY with a drill and a hacksaw, but it will be difficult to get it right with such basic tools. The negative of the design is that anyone with a straight screwdriver can pry / break the keeper right off (in about 1 second) and gain access just by placing the screwdriver under the tab to pry up on the tab. (same tab you put your finger under to open cap......) Both of mine are now inoperative as the little keepers have both broken off from regular use. http://www.aerotriminc.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderfiles/aerolockinstructions.pdf (See the keeper on the diagram page two lower right.. that is the weakness in the design) Just my experience, others may have had better success. That being said (as far as I know) it is the only option out there if you want to try to lock your caps.....
  20. Very nice! I like the 930 even better now that I see it in your panel. The remote display is a nice feature with the 930.
  21. I suppose I could get a remote transponder and get rid of the ADF for more room. plus get a GTN650 for com2
  22. Very nice panel... I would need to get rid of something to install the EDM 900... Here is my panel.. the GTN takes up a lot of space
  23. I am interested in this install. I want to do the same thing to my 75F, but the panel space is a problem in my plane. You are removing all the OEM gauges? Where is it going to be mounted? I have a EDM 700, will the 900 use the same harness? Thanks! Mike
