  1. I have some "new' seats (fully articulating) in my F. The pilot side works great except the copilots seat wont lock in place for some odd reason. The pins don't extend all the way down like the original seats. The "new" seat pin is shown in pic 1 the original seat is shown in pic 2 for comparison. I took the pins out and the original seat pins are slightly longer but they will not fit in the newer seats unless modified. Any ideas out there? I have thought of just fabricating slightly longer pins as they are just a steel rod.... New Seat: Original Seat....
  2. I have a similar situation when running lean of peak. The #1 EGT is showing hotter than the other three. CHTs are all nice and cool though. I don't believe it is a dirty injector (in my case at least) as mine were just recertified at GAMI. I noticed in the EDM 700 manual it says an EGT span of 70-90 is considered normal. (Page 25 - Section 4) My engine also used to occasionally miss and have a small pop/backfire when idling for an extended time. That "issue" went away after I had the engine overhauled at PennYan. I am not sure what was causing it, however I don't believe it was cause for concern. So far in the first 3 hours of operation no missing or popping....
  3. What was your IFR route and what altitudes did you fly over the mountains? I am looking into flying from NC out to KRNO this fall. Did you need O2?
  4. Which one on the tcdirect page will fit under the factory CHT probe, and is it compatible with the JPI EDM 700? The 201-250?
  5. Im saying the hole to stick the bayonet CHT probe in is already occupied by the one CHT probe that came from the factory this is on #3 cylinder only. Is there a way to put the JPI bayonet CHT probe in the hole and move the factory one out of there and onto the spark plug or somewhere else legally? I don't see anything that JPI sells that will piggyback on the bayonet type to allow both the factory and the JPI probe to occupy the same port on the cylinder.
  6. Does JPI sell a probe that will attach to the OEM CHT probe? I don't see anything like that on the jpi website plus my mechanic said it's not available from JPI........ I too have that spark plug sensor on number 3. I would like to improve accuracy, as it reads 25 degrees hotter then the other 3 CHT probes.
  7. I will look into that... This thing has way too many antennas on it.
  8. Cams on the sides/top, screws in the front.
  9. They are airforms 201 baffles with powder coating. The old M20F baffles would not work with the new cowling. If you need baffles I would recommend giving them a look. airforms.biz
  10. I will be flying it for the first time (since its face lift) in a couple days. Waiting on the IFR check to be completed...... Quite excited about it too! :-) It's basically a new airplane firewall forward...
  11. Perhaps in a year or two on the belly mod, I have spent enough $ for right now at least.
  12. I need to get rid of all these antennas all over this thing. That alone is prob costing me quite a few knots.
  13. "My F is faster then your 201" now that would be fantastic fun. Where is that thread? Hahaha
  14. It is about half the width of the cowling edge. It is streamlined with the wind so I don't see any drag issues. It's really very minor but I was surprised it wasn't flush. Otherwise it is looking stellar.
  15. KS told me what I needed to know.
  16. Just asking because the Lopresti is now installed now on my F... It is a thicker then my OEM and not quite flush on the sides. The 201 cowl being thicker explains this then. I guess on a 201 the Lopresti would be flush on the sides.
  17. Is the factory cowling on a 201/j model fiberglass? Thanks!
  18. The guy in the hangar next to me had the same issue in his Cessna. His mechanic sent it off for repair/welding, and it came back serviceable.
  19. Jose, do you Does that HF have SELCALL? (Selective Calling)
  20. It sounds like just setting the unit on the cockpit dash with a view of the sky is not adequate? That is kind of what I wanted to do when I fly my F from the east coast to the west coast and back this fall. I really don't want to add any antennas to the outside of the airframe. I am trying to get rid of antennas, not add more.
  21. I will be crossing the north atlantic here shortly... not in a M20 though, that would be more fun. Anyway, I'm interested in getting internet / phone service while flying in the Mooney. What is the best way to go about doing that?
  22. "There is no such thing as a cheap airplane". You're either going to spend the money on the front end of the deal or the back end of the deal.
  23. Did they change the oil in it every 4 months or so while the plane was not flying? If that was done then the ground runups (in my opinion) would be helpful. If the oil was not changed in the last three years then expect trouble with the cam and lifters.
