  1. You should consider checking the pressure output of the mechanical fuel pump with another pressure gauge before you go through the removal and replacement. Just to make sure its the true issue.
  2. Thank you for the update. I think I will give them a try this winter.
  3. I guess it has changed hands then. Website appears up to date anyway.
  4. Hello Folks, I am looking for a Mooney familiar shop for an annual due this winter. Any reports on AGL in NC? Are they still a Mooney shop? It seems like the shop has been sold or under new management? Anyway if anyone has had service done there lately please let me know your experience. Thanks!
  5. There is a good MX shop at W78 which is close to GSO. They could probably help you out.
  6. My bird has factory MP/FP instead of FF. Interesting. Of course mine is a 75F.... http://www.aerospacelogic.com/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=232 That is the Fuel Flow/MP version.
  7. I don't recall, you can download the installation manual and see. The display brightness adjustable thru a menu.
  8. Mine went bad too, unable to get it overhauled (the shop tried 3 times but it never worked right) or replaced. I ended up going with this. Works great, installed myself and got a sign-off from my mechanic. http://www.aerospacelogic.com/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=106 I used a reducer plate on the original instrument hole and this new one fits just fine. Mounted senders on the firewall w aluminum angle. Was a fairly simple job.(the dimmer knob described in install manual, it's unnecessary.)
  9. Watch the Kitplanes Magazine Channel on Youtube "Metal Magic" Some good starter tips from an expert. There is a whole series in there, don't just stop at this linked one. Order this for practice: https://store.vansaircraft.com/rv-control-surface-training-project-rv-training-project-1.html Build it and then disasmble it by removing the rivets, and build it agian. You are doing good when you can remove a rivet and NOT enlarge the hole while doing so.
  10. A cellphone and a credit card are all you need. I don't see the practicality of flying around a bunch of tools and parts all the time. Besides whatever part you need or tool you need will be the one you didn't have.
  11. I ended up replacing my old FP/MP combo gauge with this. (For anyone looking for another option out there...) http://www.aerospacelogic.com/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=106 PIREP: Has been working great for quite sometime now. / Used a reducer plate and the gauge fit in the same hole as the old larger MP/FP gauge.
  12. I don't believe there is going to be a parts problem for the KX-155. They are manufacturing new LED displays for them, so that says to me there will be plenty of support for quite sometime. My old KX-155 (which I just had overhauled with new display) will probably outlive the Garmin I have as #1 NAV/COMM in fact. Look at all the avionics that has come and gone over the years while the KX-155 keeps chugging along doing its job nicely.
  13. New LED Display plus overhaul was $2,496.00. If you all you need it is a new display it would be somewhat less of course. I realize that is not cheap, but it is an excellent radio and I just slid it back into the panel and I was back in business vs downtime / labor installing another type. Just give them a call and discuss. I found them to be great to work with.
  14. Hello Mr. Rags, Yes, I finally solved the problem (of the surging fuel pressure needle) after throwing a lot of money in all directions. Tried purging the fuel line to the fuel pressure gauge, that did not work (cheap fix if it works). Replaced the mechanical fuel pump, that did not solve the problem. Sent the MP/FP gauge out for overhaul, that did not fix the problem. I became suspicious it was still the gauge even after overhaul because now the MP needle was hanging up. So I sent it back to the overhaul place again, they worked on it and sent it back to me. Still had issues with the MP needle and I was tired of dealing with it. So I ordered this: http://www.aerospacelogic.com/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=106 Removed the old 1975 MP/FP gauge and installed this with a reducer plate so it would fit in the larger hold left in the panel. Problem solved!!!! and as an added bonus fuel pressure line no longer enters into the cockpit. Installed it all myself and had it signed off and paper work done by my mechanic.
  15. I sent my inop KX-155 into MidContinent Instruments. They installed a new LED display and overhauled the radio. Pretty quick turnaround too. I feel I will get another decade or two out of it at this point.
  16. Similar issue with my prop which was last overhauled in 2007. I think it is about time for an overhaul or IRAN on it. What is the turn around time for this at your shop? Thanks!
  17. I ordered it and have it in my possession. It appears to be of very high quality, but I have not had a chance to put it to work yet.
  18. https://www.triconsprayers.com/products/o-1800-1-4-aviation-portable-1-liter-atomized-sprayer-system A cheaper option that states it is designed for Corrosion X applications.
  19. +1 To having customer service issues with Spruce.
  20. Where is the vent line plumbed to? On my F model there is just a plug in the vent port on the back of the gauge.
  21. 2037 | Aircraft Components INC (flyingsafer.com) This is the system I have. Works really well. I can not imagine anyone landing gear up with this system installed and working. It is really loud and unmistakable as the female voice states a repetitive " check landing gear" until the gear is down or you climb above 50 feet. Mine is also hooked to the MP swatch in the throttle so you will get the alert at near idle power settings as well. Any retract I ever own will have one of these installed, as I stated above there is no way you will forget the rubber rollers if this system is installed and working. It also loudly states a repetitive "stall" instead of the beeping stall horn

  23. Yep, fly your airplane into Virginia 90 times in one year or have it present in the state for 90 days, and you owe them 2% the value of your airplane, and not paying is a crime on top of that! Which is only 7 or 8 times a month, easy to do if you have family in the state as I do.... It also appears operating less than the 90 day trigger will still generate a letter. I say this because I fly into VA typically3 times a month (all day trips, never an overnight) and it has triggered a letter anyway. I guess they are using the shotgun approach,
  24. This seems to indicate you can show you paid tax already in your home state to offset the Virginia tax. § 58.1-1504. Credit against tax. A credit shall be granted against the tax imposed by this chapter with respect to a person's use in this Commonwealth of an aircraft purchased by him in another state, or assembled by him from component parts on which Virginia retail sales or use tax was paid. The amount of the credit shall be equal to the tax paid by him to another state by reason of the imposition of a similar tax on his purchase or use of the property or the amount of Virginia retail sales and use tax paid on the component parts of such assembled aircraft. The amount of the credit shall not exceed the tax imposed by this chapter. Code of Virginia Code - Chapter 15. Virginia Aircraft Sales and Use Tax
