NOSTALGIA---IS IT LOVE OR STUPIDITY?
Jerry Pressley replied to Jerry Pressley's topic in General Mooney Talk
I will post fotos of her apart and on the trailer. afraid if I ferry her all that loose junk in the tanks will float right down through that little screen at the inboard lower part of the tanks. -
In the mid 70's I found a derelict 66 Super sitting in Fall River, MA. Flat tires, tired paint bad interior but good engine and prop. I bought it and ferried back to Strawberry Plains, TN. At that time I had lots more energy than now so it didn't take too long to bring it up to date. Interior, new paint, Rajay, New top of the line avionics. Called radios then, Collins Microline. Hard to imagine all the kids spent many hours in the back seat. Although I really liked it, other things got in the way and I sold her. Years later I was in a small town in Louisiana and she was sitting unloved again. Flat tires and all. I bought it and went through the whole process again. This time somewhat slower. Later a I met a gentleman who spent lots of time going to the mountains of Mexico and because of the turbocharger he convinced me he could not live without my little jewel. Lots of money helped too. Sooo for many years I have bemoaned and missed her. Now I am much older and much slower. Periodically I go to the faa website and pull up the present owner which for many years has been the man I sold to. I sent him inquiries over the years but nothing in return. a couple weeks ago I went to that same old website and lo and behold it had changed hands. I contacted the present owner who turned out to be an extremely nice FBO who said "sure I will sell it but you better come look first". I had seen her derelict a couple times before but nothing I couldn't ferry. This time she is beyond that point so I plan to pull it apart and use a trailer. So is it an old love affair or just plain stupidity? JerryP

those two bulkheads are not for4 a 201. It is a deeper dish. Georgia just quoted me 850 to weld a very small crack on a cardinal spinner. Wentworth was 450 for a used one. The 201 is kinda scarce but I have a few. The man who wanted a scrap one please email me and I will send a real jewel for free. acpartswhse@aol.com

SOLD IT THANKS MUCH -
40 years ago I put a rajay on a 66E. no n number specific for the stc. .Just mooney 200hp. Flew it for years trouble free. come from Borger Texas, where I was bidding on a Mooney that had lost part of a prop blade, to Morristown, Tn in 4 hours. average 225 mph fuel burn 10 gph. I sold it but found it sitting derelect a week ago. did something stupid and bought it back. couple years should restore it I think.

actually...coming from a man who has made a life of damaged airplanes, #1 for inflight failures is V tail Bonanza. Remember the joke they developed for preventing failure of the stabilizer? little cuff on the tailcone. Didn't work. and #2 for inflight failure is Cherokee 6. JerryP

In 1959 a Meyers 200 did the first single engine single pilot round the world. Peter Gluckman did 18 hour legs. I just sold the plane but kept the 52 gallon ferry tank that Richard Bach used for extra fuel until his FAA friend chained his plane to the ground until he removed it. I use it for ferrying when mooney tanks are bad. Gluckman landed in the wrong country and wrong airport a couple times but considering his radio was an Omnigator I think he did great. Personally I only did the Tennessee to Europe leg once 30 years ago. Northern route so wasn't too bad a trip Jerry Pressley

AVL is the closest airport from my home nut because of hangar rent prices and tie down prices along with fees for anyone coming to visit I keep my plane in Morristown TN which is 75 miles away. Jackson County nc is next closest but no hangars available and difficult to work outside during winter

sorry misread which screws if they are on the panels for access to back of instrument panel just go into any fbo and they will probably give you what you need, a full screw kit is wayyyy too many screws

original had camloc fasteners. similar to dzus. would be a shame to replace them with screws. 2753-2 camlock I think.

Need M20J Style spinner for Hartzell Prop

got a complete spinner including the difficult to find deep dish bulkhead. Offer? 423 231 3491 -
The problem we have found along this line lately is binding on the trim box. Electric trim forces the box into a bind when trimmed for landing. Amelia's was so tight it took a pair of vice grips to free ti. We have another 231 here now with a similar problem. When I landed it I used the elec trim to trim nose up and when taking off again it was near impossible to retrim. I wonder if it would be possible to adjust more nose up and less nose down into the system. I never had a problem with too much nose down trim. Of course if it were loaded nose heavy>>>>>>>>>>>>>
