  1. As mentioned above, the one looks orphaned (no terminal), when dealing with wiring which can get very busy, take a picture before removal, label the wires if needed with colored zip ties or tape so you can identify them going back together.
  2. Don, I use a CAD/CAM program and can do it for you at no charge, send me a pm if you’d like
  3. Pretty much all of it, including doing a few things for a few local A&P/IA’s that they just don’t want to fool with
  4. 3 of us on the field went with the Garmin GDL-82 for ADS-B out and 2 went the UAVIONIX tail beacon route. All 5 of us wanted the Sky Beacon for “Out” but they stopped trying to get the Sky Sensor certified for the “In”. The UAVIONIX is very easy to install but you have to have you “Nav” lights on all the time or re-wire to supply power with out running the wingtip lights, you will also need an iPhone or iPad to program them. Plan on a long day (or 2) to install the Garmin GDL-82, it mounts on the avionics rack in the tail on the Mooney and you’ll need a laptop to program the Garmin. There are several portable boxes for the “In” that will give you traffic/weather on a tablet…. I came real close to installing the certified Sky Beacon on my Mooney with the matching non-certified for the “In” on the other side, which would have given me wingtip strobes which it didn’t have
  5. I used sabremechs 337
  6. I sold the plane this past December, I’ll check and see if the new owner will send me a pic of the paper work
  7. While the prices for Mooneys has gone up, it’s nothing like the what 172 prices have done. Look at what 172’s are bringing then look at Mooneys, you’ll probably put some money in your pocket and go 50mph faster
  8. Basically the same process, just smaller scale….. if aluminum is showing it needs proper treatment, small chips can sometimes be filled with paint using an Airbrush or artist brush the sanded down and buffed out… I did the leading edge on the horizontal stab….. a ton of rock chips…. It was easier to just repaint the entire leading edge skin
  9. Autos use a”Base Coat, Clear Coat” where most of the planes are painted with a “1 shot (no clear coat)”. As far as guns go there are basically three sizes, 1 qt (full size) , 4~6 oz (touch up gun), and Air-Brushes…. HVLP is best in my opinion. Good results starts at the “Prep” stage and like mentioned above, aluminum requires a few more steps and precautions on the prep. The biggest mistake I see is WAY TOO THICK of coat(s), 1 or 2 light (dusting) coats then a wet coat is much better. the last coat can be reduced (Hot) which helps it lay flat and also helps with the blending, be warned this is generally where runs show up. When blending roll the masking tape back, this will help with “Hard” lines and cut down on the sanding afterwards. Use good material from an automotive paint store, DO NOT use newspaper for masking paper. Watch a few videos on YouTube, practice on something other than your airplane if possible and tackle a small area first……
