  1. Shoulder harnesses on both front seats were a high priority for me as well, rear belts no longer matched (color) which made them a high priority for the wife, rears were ordered the day after the fronts came in.
  2. I've used iPads (2 & mini) for the past 200+ hrs with Wing-X and have never had one overheat while in an aircraft. The mini has over heated once, it was laying on the seat of my truck for several hrs in S. Texas during the summer (we're only about 100ft from the sun)
  3. Time to fly
  4. Welcome, that bird sure looks familiar
  5. IA said everything is there to install the JPI, will give Shadin a call and see what the say
  6. lol, big brother might be reading as well
  7. I know a DPE that said that exact thing in an FAA seminar, they suspended his privelages for 6 months and required additional training.
  8. My E has a history of off field landings (2) and one fuel starvation after Take-off, all of which was before me. if you are going to push your reserves plan ahead so that the wing with fuel will be raised during pattern turns to reduce the risk of sucking air and seat covers. I subscribe to the theory of the only time you can have too much fuel onboard is when your on fire.
  9. Clarence, the price Is too low to pass up. I had no plans of adding/upgrading the original shotgun panel, but it looks like that has slightly changed
  10. Don H, you are correct, #'s 5 & 6 have to be removed. I haven't looked closely at the harness, but if the original installer cut the harness to get a "cleaner" installation then it will need to be re-pinned so the wiring will be long enough to reach the front cylinders. The up side is that coming off a 6 cly. It will leave 2 ea. EGT & CHT probes as spares should I every need them.
  11. Makes you wonder why it has an adjustable iris, not like it's going to fade the carpet with all that light it puts out. I would bet that the bulb has been replaced from one from the auto parts store
  12. Spoke with JPI, said it was not an issue just has to be re-pinned due to Conti and Lycoming cylinder numbers are opposite. Once it is installed there is a way to re-set to factory defaults then as it boots up it will recognize only the 4 cylinders that are connected. My IA buddy wanted me to start the installation today, but might have to jockey a couple things (intercom in one spare spot and Alt. field switch, and v light in the other). As far as the price goes, $200.00 for both is what said he'd sell it to me for (seems fair to me)
  13. Looking for the same, mainly for drink holders for the front and back seats, a small compartment would also be nice.
  14. A friend of mine recently upgrade the panel in his 182 and asked if I was interested in the JPI EDM700 & Shadin Microflo-L units that were removed. All was working just fine when removed and comes with what looks like everything (probes, transducers, manuals, hardware and misc other items). He said he thinks they can be sent back in to the manufacture and have the software updated so they will work with the 4 cyl Lycoming vs the 6 cyl Continental they came off of. My questions are: (1) Can they be re-programmed for a 4 cyl and does anyone have a guess at what it would cost? (2) Any idea what they would be worth on the used market (he hasn't said what he wants for them)? (3) Is it even worth the trouble to install them if they can be converted for a 4 cyl in an old bird with a shotgun panel & no GPS?
  15. nels, If your aircraft has never had the shoulder harnesses you will also need the minor change kit (this is where the should straps bolts to the side of the aircraft)
  16. Just did a weigh in on my "E" (don't have the numbers in front of me) but I do remember it being right at 100lbs heavier than it was when rolled out of the factory, the number that did stick in my head is the nose wheel, was 471lbs the same as it was 51 years ago
  17. for part 91 i don't think so either all the others I believe its required every 2 years regardless of any changes or not
  18. Junction could be tight to get out of, terrain rises on climb out, hill on one side road on the other so watch for density altitude. Shouldn't be an issue in a "J" but I wanted to give you a heads up
  19. 5 gal. / 50lbs seems a bit much, as far as painting a 4 place aircraft goes, plus the control surfaces need to be rebalanced to avoid flutter and it also needs a new weight n balance done.
  20. List of MSC and Suppliers Try these guys out if you don't want to fab one up yourself
  21. Arm Assy, Hold Open (913020-2 is the part # for 1965 M20C). Mine was missing, so I used a friends to fabricate one seeing how I couldn't find one(didn't really spend much time looking)
  22. Stick & Rudder, the long lost art. You fly tailwheel aircraft all the way to the hangar
  23. Clarence send the new guy up
  24. We all seem to agree on the mains and are split on how to raise the nose wheel. Maybe something like this would be an option
