Getting the annual done and mechanic found this situation. In aileron full UP on both sides there seems to be a lot of movement, when the aileron is full DOWN, the movement is minimal. The maintenance manual doesn't specify, except for 12.5 to 14.5 degrees. Just seems like a lot. All of the linkages have been inspected and nothing amiss....is this normal? 170746.3gp

I had some car wash go bad during last winters freeze where it went to 0 Fahrenheit here in AArkansas. That was the only product that was ruined. Other random cleaners and fluids all seemed fine.

Not specifically. I bought my first one and it did nothing but generate static on the radios, which is not an uncommon issue, so it went in the garbage. I don't know if there is such a thing as a high quality one as they are all made in some Chinese factory. I bought a second one that has 2 ports, one seems like it is 1.1 amps and the other shows 2.1 (numbers are approximate). At the 2.1 port the charger will slowly charge the ipad if the screen is off and if you are using it the charge goes down, seems like it is going down quicker these days as my ipad is 5 years old. Hate to consider buying a new ipad. I suspect you are just as likely to find a "high quality" one that works as well as a cheap one.

OK, they came in. When I bought a new one 2 years ago, i have a vague recollection of there being ground off tabs. I will put one in the lathe and see if I can pull/cut it open and apart with an exacto knife. I have $14 in each of them. so in the terms of mistakes I have made that have cost me money this one will be cheap. Won't be the first time and won't be the last.

I have an M20R, what is the legality of installing this product? I don't see it on the list.

I too had one depart over Ohio somewhere, if you find it, please send back to me. The issue is water gets behind the seal and then at freezing altitude pops off. When I reglued the new one, made sure to seal properly. Gave me a startle as when I looked out that side, looked like there was a big hole in the wing. I am highly doubtful Mooney will order more.......we are going to be on our own for these parts and I suspect a lot more as time goes on. I have found the gauge online, or at least something that looks the same for like $11.29 each, I need/want to replace the one on the other side as it is really cloudy. I am going to order one and see if I can make it work. will advise.

I wish I had better advice, I replaced the seal on my mooney with the Knots4U version(I think), it was a PITA, now it whistles more than it did before. I think the problem is the huge variability in the door and door frame dimensions. The door fits flush when closed, so I don't think there is any adjustments to be made and there. I am thinking I will have to add some type of foam seal in the areas where it doesn't fit properly. Reading posts on here seems like the whole thing is problematic. The inflatable door seal option, despite being several hundred dollars seems more and more like a better option.

There is another post on here somewhere about the float filling with fluid and reading terrible. But for the record I have also deiced my hangar floor once.

My left brake caliper has been leaking, A&P replaced the caliper seals and no more leak, we had a heck of a time getting the brake pedal to firm up, and we never really did, and to be honest the brakes since I bought the airplane have never really impressed me, seemed like they took a lot of effort to use. During this process with the pressure pot we could see lots of thin black film being pumped from the calipers (I think, memory is sketchy as it was 2 months ago), it might have been connected to the reservoir, the point being there is a lot of black film looking substance that shouldn't be in there. The airplane is a 2000 Ovation and guessing still has the original fluid as the stuff we replaced looked horribly dirty and off colored, it didn't look clean. I am guessing every 20 or so years not a bad idea to overhaul the system. I am guessing the "black film" came from the inside lining of the flexible brake hoses? Is there any other sources? Should we replace the O-rings in the master cylinders? I am also unclear if there is a shuttle valve system. I will break out the manuals this evening, but sometimes easier to go to people who have experienced this in the past. Also want to research parts availability, hate to get it all taken apart and find that one part is unobtanium, either temporarily or semi-permanently. Thanks in advance.

Will definitely have an open door for any Mooney owner who wants to stop in. Thinking I will only live there in the summer time, till the 8' of snow start....... Right now just land, the more I think about it the more I dread the planning and making building decisions. First world problems. Guess will just have to do it, money is cheap these days.

They are all about 1.2 acres, so not huge. I bought the last one that was actively listed, they had 4 available several weeks ago and I bought the last one being actively listed. They sold 3 in one week, I decided I better act fast. They were asking $175K, I negotiated long and hard and got a .6% discount (notice the decimal point), it is definitely a sellers market. The one "in front" with unobstructed view of runway is asking $500K so stupid money. Not listed, I declined.

Decided time to start building a compound and preparing for the revolution....... The only picture that shows my property is Afton3, the rest are just views. This is located in Afton Wyoming, KAFO, which is about 2 hours south of Jackson Hole. Now for the fun times of house design, approvals and contractors. Expect a lot more questions on hangar design, etc. in the near future.

Flying back home and came through a small line of weather, light to maybe moderate rain and the Altimeter and VSI jumped immediately, Altimeter about 100+ feet and the VSI to 500 foot climb. AP tries to correct, but I hurry up and hit the disconnect and hand fly and the "variation" goes away very quickly. Obviously moisture causing it, but how and why? This happened once several years ago, very similar rain conditions. I have also spent a lot of time flying in constant rain in Florida and the Southeast and no odd effects. I doubt if this has anything to do with it, but the other time it occurred was similar geographical conditions, what I would consider high desert. First time was remnants of a hurricane and I was going into Santa Fe NM and this time was in Eastern Wyoming.
