  1. Well let me start with freight companies are criminals...They will cover their asses when you signed your tariff agreement, which is several hundred pages long and we know damn certain nobody reads those. However certain fundamentals do apply. They will pay you a certain $ per pound, since our engines are almost made of gold. The shipper should be responsible, they are the ones providing the BOL. Good luck, they are awful.
  2. Last week I was flying along at 7,000 east bound from AR to VA, mostly between layers but in constant light rain. Temperature was +7 Celsius and I wasn't concerned about icing as the winds aloft all showed the temperature to be plenty warm. Cabin was pleasant, I typically don't run heat as slightly paranoid about it and I do have a CO detector. In less than a minute the cabin got real cold and the temperature dropped to 0 Celsius and clear ice started building on the wing, hit the TKS system and requested lower altitude immediately which was granted. About 30 minutes prior someone reported icing at 6000 about 50 miles northeast of my position. I thought that was odd as we were flying in fundamentally the same air mass and sure enough I got hit by the same thing. I really wish I would have paid more attention to what caused this but it wasn't a real weather day where you look at all of the options as generally there wasn't anything to be concerned with. Best I can figure is I was flying in some warm air mass and then flew into the colder air mass....obviously. Just sharing a story.
  3. We are ignoring the eyes completely. I was always told the flu got in through their as it was nice warm moist spot for viruses to live. How it gets from there to the rest of the body is beyond me. Yes the flue isn't COVID, but in my uneducated opinion it is close enough. I guess i should google it.
  4. You have an idiots guide to reading and understanding this? Asking for a friend......
  5. I think I have one....not able to get to it till next week. Will send pics then. What do you think it is worth?
  6. Mine is just under the green arc almost all the time. I put the winterization plate in and it made almost no difference. At least the temp is consistent.
  7. Auto salvage yard?
  8. Sounds like they are trying to fix hardware issues with software.....30 or 40 more attempts and they will have it right or so bloated doesn’t work at all....ala Microsoft, Sandia, BK-300, etc.
  9. The other theory is less fuel means less weight on the rubber landing gear disks and supposedly longer life. I said theory so I am covered. I personally don't buy the keeping tanks full theory, my one repaired leak and maybe tiny seepage are all on the bottom which is covered by fuel 90% of the time and my landings are always butter smooth so hard landings aren't causing it......
  10. Not an expert but he is a low time pilot, I think TT 230 hours.....so $5300 doesn't seem unreasonable to me.
  11. I read about someone/somewhere having one installed....it might have been on beechtalk? Everybody was pretty incredulous.
  12. The other thing to consider is these products have "mod numbers" which might or might not means something. Apparently it isnt easy to look them up without being a BK service center. I have a Mod 3 altimeter and the used one i was looking at was only Mod 2....would it still work? I have no idea. Just another data point.
  13. I am going to be obtuse... i have a hard time seeing what is rubbing. I seen some marks on the donuts, large scratch on the MLG and some chipped paint on that rod. Just trying to see the problem. I have paint coming off in chips that look similar, just not what I would consider rub marks. Asking to educate myself.
  14. Not sure how any kind of knot would have prevented this inferior aircraft from sitting on its tail?
  15. There is a thread going around here on how relatively easy it is to buy the microswitches to repair the trim switch. I will probably be in that boat before long. regarding the casing breaking, mine broke on the trim side, super glued it back together......was thinking I could make one out of aluminum to last forever. Supposedly that part is $800. Criminal pricing.
  16. I was not aware they reengineered the gear as well. Seems almost like they should have looked at a clean sheet design, but hindsight is 2020, especially this year. I guess the bean counters and salesmen now run the Boeing company.
  17. I sprayed contact cleaner all around and in the microswitch, best I could. So far one flight and it didn’t reappear. Will keep an eye on it.
  18. A, the sound goes away when I pull the gear warning CB. It also goes away on its own about 20 seconds after TO power application and the gear is solidly retracted, I can't hear it during the takeoff roll, again it is very faint, not a full blown warning horn. The horn works normal when gear is retracted and power is pulled to idle. Mark
  19. Our local university is dependent on local sales tax revenue for operations, only 4 year university that is structured that way. I am on the anti-tax crowd organization and executive committee. I recently received an email, from aforementioned university asking for money. Had to tell them NO in no uncertain terms and they really should see who they are requesting money from, will see if they respond. I guess emails are cheap. Bigger problem is non-profits are starting to be considered real businesses.
  20. I might buy the cold weather theory, but I don't think there are any limit switches in the wheel well to sense retraction? I think they are all in the belly on the pushrods and what not. I don't know what the limit switches are measuring or commanding to do or not do. Also not 100% sure related to cold weather has it has been going on for a while, just assumed it was one of those random airplane noises that occur as it sounded like feedback through the audio system. The airplane just came out of annual by a well known MSC and I don't think my pucks are ancient, but apparently on the long bodies they have a much more limited life, but my landings are all smooth as silk so no abuse there......
  21. After gear is up there is a strange bzzzing noise coming from the gear warning system, all of the lights are off, floor indicator looks good. It bzzzes for about 20 seconds, it isn't a full on alarm, just barely like a microswitch or something isn't all the way open/closed somewhere. The noise does go away pretty quickly. I identified it as being the gear warning system as I pull the gear warning CB and it stops, push it back in and there it is. I assume it is some of the microswitches in the belly or maybe the microswitch on the throttle position?, but before I get my mechanic involved in a full on diagnosis want to give him some clues what to look for. Thank you and stay safe everybody. Mark
  22. The issue, typically is the microswitch quits working as i assume the TKS fkuid gets into the switch, despite it supposedly being a sealed switch.
  23. Anybody have any idea on how to take apart the overpriced less than reliable switch on a TKS switch?
  24. Dont confuse me with facts....think of the children man!!!
  25. Isnt cessna coming out with a SETP besides the caravan?
