  1. Yes, I am aware of that but it does have a field elevation of 4700 feet. I am mainly interested in proper leaning procedures during landing, startup, and departure at higher elevation airports.
  2. I am based in North Texas and we are considering a trip to Pueblo, CO. I do not have any experience flying into higher elevation airports since I have had my private and Instrument rating. I would like to get some feedback from fellow Mooney Pilots on proper leaning procedures upon arrival and departure at airports with higher elevations. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks.
  3. Has anyone used Broadies Aircraft Maintenance at Ft. Worth Meacham airport? I am looking for a service center in the DFW area. Thanks/
  4. I do get the "Minimums, Minimums" alter during approaches. I get an "audio beep" alert when I am 1000 feet from the altitude that I input. What I am inquiring about is, for example, when I am on an approach and as the plane descends and hits 1000 AGL, an audio alert saying "1000" and at 500 AGL an alert saying "500" and so on down to 10 feet. I know that the Meridians and Malibus have these alerts with their G1000, but the software may be a little different. Thanks for the replies so far.......
  5. I have a 2007 Ovation 3 with a G1000, without the WAAS upgrade. I have seen u tube videos of some G1000 with audio altitude alters. Does anyone know if this is possible on the Mooney G1000's? I kind of feel dumb asking, but in IFR, if my G1000 has that capability, it would be great toe activate it. Thanks for any feedback.
  6. I am also based at KTKI and have used Jerry Johnson for my initial transition training about 10 years ago. Jerry has a lot of Mooney time and is a nice guy. Good luck
  7. I have a GFC 700 Autopilot and was wondering if anyone has experience with it flying missed approach procedures. I know that the flight director with activate when the missed approach button is pressed but I am not certain if the autopilot will actually take the aircraft to the missed approach point. My inquiry is for informational purposes as I typically turn off the autopilot about 500-700 feet above minimums if flying in hard IFR. Thanks for any information you can provide.
  8. I have a 2007 Ovation 3 and since ownership, have performed oil changes every 25 hours. Some say, that is best, others say that since my engine has an oil filter, I can go 50 hours between changes. Any comments?
  9. Update on my Ovation 3. After 6 weeks in East Texas, I finally flew N73GX home yesterday. When I purchased my bird 4 years ago, I requested all metallic paint knowing that touch ups would be hard to match. The new ailerons had to be repainted 3 times to get a near perfect match. Although the quality of the paint job on the ailersons was not as good as the original paint job, only a "picky eye" like mine would know. Overall I am happy with the work done. I decided to use Don Maxwell in Longview. I have used Don's shop in the past and he knows how picky I am, so he would not release the plane to me until he got a good match. We had to use 2 paint shops to get the match right. The airlerons that we used were factory new taken from one of the aircraft that is sittling partially done on the assembly line. Don said that there are no more new airlerons for the M20 series. I would assume that the ailerons used on the Ovations are the same as all the long body style Mooneys. Hopefully the factory will re-open to begin fabricating new parts such as ailerns that are prone to hangar rash and hail damage. Don is a great source of information for parts and was able to get ahold of the ailerons quickly for me.
  10. An update on my situation. I did file an insurance claim. My Mooney Service Center was able to get new ailerons from the factory and they will be installed next week. I do not know how it will effect my insurance rates in the future. After I filed the claim my policy was up for renewal and rates rose about 200 a year. No too bad considering a lot of claims were probably filed from the Sun and Fun storm.
  11. I also own a 2007 Ovation 3 and was one of the first Ovation 3 to have the GFC700 installed. I must admit, it is a wonderful autopilot, but not that good to justify paying 65K. I have been quoted 25K just to upgrade my G1000 to WAAS and another 10K to add synthetic vision. Wonder what it will cost to upgrade to the G2000.....1 trillion dollars.
  12. I called the factory and they are about 2800 bucks each. Thanks N4352H for your help as well. Now I just have to deal with the insurance company.
