Any interest in a 231 1/4 share around denver?

GNS430w, avidyne mfd with xm weather, old king nav and com 2, digital tach, ei engine monitor, hsi, century 41 autopilot. Built in o2 with the big tank, 130ish cu ft. New statics test on the tank. Weep no more did the tanks in 2014, tanis heater, precise flight speed brakes, thicker glass done in the late 90's.... -

Again, you're making the assumption that they even knew about it. Your leg was 1.6 hours, you probably checked the notams when you left the house. A lot of things happen in 2-3 hours.... -

Doesn't appear to be the case. It is the case. And you think checking the notams before a flight, flying 3 or 4 hours and not checking again is safe operation? OK... -

And as I've mentioned at least three times in this thread he canceled ifr and went ahead on his own. Center usually doesn't take responsibility to disseminate notams, hence the question to you have the atis/notams for kxxx before giving you an approach clearance. It's entirely possible for the apt manage to close the field with no notice and not call the center to tell them, as I suspect is the case here. Center is not the notam clearing house, FSS is. Center won't clear you for an approach if they know the runway is closed, but they might not know. Hence the questions. If you cancel, don't call on ctaf, don't call for prior permission as requested... Well.... -

So, you're telling me there was no notam out, and somehow center is supposed to know that whoever decided to close the runway did so without telling them, but somehow they were supposed to tell you what they don't know? -

You're assuming he was still on frequency when the notamed came out. He wasn't. There was also a notam for PPR and a freq to contact..... You would think they would do so. They didn't. -

What part of he cancelled ifr and landed vfr didn't make sense? The only thing he was cleared to do was squawk vfr... The rest is on him. There are other details and circumstances I won't get into. It's a combination of bad timing and not bothering with ctaf it sounds like that got him. -
Guess I'm the odd man out. It's ugly.

Before he was issued the approach the pilot was asked if he had the current notams for tex, I guarantee it. He said yes... -
Hell, I'll build a Web based setup and sell it to you for parts cost if you're interested and it works how I want. Be a fun project. Probably cost fiddy bucks. Might be awkward to set up for the first time as you'd need a keyboard and display device unless you ssh in but very manageable. Or I can set up the ssid and pass before I send it and hope it works. At least it'll be safe

It is what it is. For a time it was the cheapest option out there. I would do something different if you have wifi access in the hangar. A $5 raspberry pi, the power switch tail I posted before and you're in business.

Anyone know the lockmart clearance number? I can never remember it. I thought I could get them on the radio last time I needed a clearance and couldn't. They get snippy of you call wx brief for a clearance.
-
It is. I posted the link to it on the other thread. The swotchbox phone app even works with it.... I'm sure he gets them in bulk, then cuts up a cheap wall wart and glues it in the case. Cuts up a couple of extension cords to feed in and across the board and back out, slaps a sticker on it and sells it for 300 bones.
-
You probably have an old router or something with a 12v supply. Check the label on the wall wart and clip it and use it or, Amazon it for 6 dollars http://www.amazon.com/Power-Adapter-Supply-2-1mm-CCTV/dp/B00452YFZU

Lol, what a day. I woke up to icing across co and UT and not a great outlook for 40g, sez, or even PGA. So i says hey let's book a flight to Vegas, it's about a toss up drive time according to Google between Las and phx so I book that this am for a 12.45 departure. We take off on the a320 and had a weird buffet on climb out. I notice he levels off quick and pulls the speed back and tell the wife we're probably returning to the field Yep, we land. Then stop on the runway and wait a half hour for a tug because they lost nose wheel steering. Tug gets there, pulls us at 3mph the 4 miles to the terminal. Get most of the way there, after another half hour of driving, tug can't pull us up a hill. Wait a half hour for a bigger tug. Another 20 mins and we hit the terminal. Everyone off, to another gate, board a new plane, 3 hours late we hit Vegas and drive the 4 hours to where I could have landed 12 hours ago if the weather had cooperated. Oh and there was a semi on fire in the middle of nowhere AZ along the highway What a weird effing day

I have the same thing except I think Phil runs too many amps through the pcb. I use an external relay triggered by 12v from the swotchbox, that way I know how many amps I can safely run. http://www.powerswitchtail.com is what I use. Yeah I could build it cheaper but it was reasonable and an easy size
-
So I'm none of the above but what he's done is attached a little power supply to the top cover to feed the board 12v. Does the unit power on? My guess would be the power supply cooked, in which case it would be very easy to splice in 12v from a wall wort used for a phone or something. Basically all you have there is a power supply split to feed 12v to the device and then 120v split across the built in relays. Either a relay fried or like I said that cheap looking power supply. I'm on my phone so it's a little hard to say all I need to. Let me know if the lights come on and we can probably get you back in biz If you have reliable wifi in the hangar a raspberry pi solution would be easy and cheap with dns dynamic. I'm sure there are cheap wifi outlets too.

Isn't winter flying grand? The forecast until a few hours ago was great (longer range, partly cloudy) Now everything from GCN to 40G to FLG and SEZ are forcasting snow. We're trying to head out tomorrow and back on wednesday. I have to work xmas eve. I can ride Frontier Airlines to PHX or LAS or I can try for PGA where the weather looks a little more favorable. Sounds like I'll be spending a night in vegas and driving a lot on this trip. Dammit. If I was only FIKI

There are several similar options to what is posted here. Quite frankly all Philip does is buy the GSM relay on eBay or direct from China, run a couple wires across the relay, slap a sticker on it and sell it for 3x as much. He did a nice job having the app developed I guess. Sorry, but that's all it is Do your research and make sure it supports the correct GSM band and you're all set. That's the only trick to finding one that works. Don't believe me? http://m.ebay.com/itm/GSM-AUTO-DC-2CH-Output-GSM-SMS-Remote-Control-Relay-Contact-Switch-w-Time-Delay-/121274474812?nav=SEARCH It's the same. His app will even control it.
