  1. Looks like you have Dynon autopilot. How about a pirep on its performance and capabilities?
  2. Went flew to lunch last Saturday at Port Townsend, WA (0S9) and one flew in. Older gentleman having lunch also.
  3. As anything Faa does its complicated, the aircraft if properly equipped can be by an appropriately rated pilot. If you elect to fly on your drivers license then you must fly Sport Pilot rules.
  4. Yes, but you may not like the limitations. You will be operating sport pilot rules: altitude 10k or less, no IFR, and maybe no night flying to mention a few.
  5. Consider making it an annual if it passes up to a point
  6. Have tach and manifold gage calibrated, old plane, old instruments.
  7. Why not post particulars here?
  8. Mechanic make the part?
  9. I had one with vsi removed and really missed it. I, d keep it, especially if you have flying actual with one. The vsi depiction on the aspen is small and hard to pick up in a quick glance.
  10. Are you based in Seattle area,
  11. Nice job, that is really cool!
  12. Dont think so, current drivers license medical replacement limits pilot to 10k, with some AGL exception to clear ground higher than 10k
  13. Me too, that was quite useful
  14. Light weight starter, remove vacuum system, if it has 3 blade prop change to 2 blade, consider avionics and/or instrument upgrades. All can considerably lighten the front end. All can be modeled doing W&B calculations.
  15. Where is it, maybe someone will be close enough to go investigate?
  16. Databases are the same, decision is based on costs and extras.
  17. Actually the type of pilot license is required, somewhere there is an advisory circular about this. Ie c@n use pp for private, cp for commercial, and of course atp. Ex. Owner/pilot CP #1234567 AC No: 43-12A (3) If the work has been performed satisfactorily,“...the signature, certificate number, and kind of certificate held by the person approving the work” (§ 43.9(a)(4)). When preventive maintenance is performed as authorized in § 43.3(g), (h), and (i), the certificate may be indicated in a manner which would be clear to the reader (e.g., PP, CP, or ATP might be used to indicate private, commercial, or airline transport pilot, respectively). The certificate number is that number displayed on the certificate being exercised. Affixing a signature to the entry, which describes the work accomplished, constitutes approval for return to service. NOTE: Section 43.9(a)(3) is not applicable when preventive maintenance is performed by the holder of a pilot’s certificate because owners/pilots are not authorized to approve work accomplished by others. The only person who
  18. Bingo, someone getting close to the problem
  19. Can you imagine the cost increase to pilot training if this were to come to pass. Especially for advanced training and building hours towards ATP.
  20. Search with google, here is one I found https://aviationmaintenance.edu/careers/aviation/faa-electronics-technician/
  21. Theres probably enough material in one of those to make 1 dust boot
  22. I fly in the area also, havent seen that one and will watch for it. We do see a lot of traffic ghosting when flying West of SEA in the Vashon Island area. Manifests itself as a traffic target at same altitude and very close. Never see it elsewhere.
  23. Removal of vac system and speed brakes netted me 38 lbs. removed side panel and took out all plumbing running to the back, removed all brackets, etc. fabricated exact match wing plugs which were screwed into existing holes and painted. A lot of little stuff also like vac gage. Then updates to POH.
