  1. I have my J model under contract and am searching for a DX model Ovation.
  2. Chips at KFPR is excellent, and aero trim is on the field also if you need interior work. Both have done work for me and exceeded expectations.
  3. This is my idea of camping, but it is for sale. Let me know if anyone wants a nice pusher.
  4. Daytona aircraft helped me out a month or so ago when I landed with a rough running engine, Quick service, nice folks, they have a nice lounge to wait or nap in, and a good supply of mooney parts on hand. I felt their pricing was fair for the quick service they gave me.
  5. I wonder if this is a no back clutch spring issue.
  6. TT is high, was it a trainer at some point?
  7. I am in Fort Pierce most of the winter and Bradley aviation works on my J model frequently. Allen, one of the mechanics, owns a J model and is quite knowledgeable with Mooneys. They are very fair with pricing and good folks to deal with.
  8. C, I am based in NC but spend a lot of time in Ft Pierce. If you dont mind driving up to KFPR, I would be more than happy to take you up sometime. I am heading back to NC tomorrow, but will be back in a week or so. Gary
  9. After, spent time on Piper related forums due to owning a Dakota prior to the Mooney. This site has been a great source of info.
  10. More stars indicates that you do not have to work and can spend a lot of time on mooneyspace.
  11. I just went through this same problem last week, flew home after an extended absence, three hour flight turned into four due to headwinds, I needed to use restroom, a little tired, impatient, the plane was light with just me and about ten gallons of fuel remaining bounced two times on the mains and had to go around. My second landing was OK, but still ugly. I was to fast over the fence for my weight and knew it and should have just made the go around decision earlier. I went down a few days later and practiced, no problems, I think it happens to many of us Mooney pilots. Airspeed adjustments when the plane is light are important!
  12. Being an avid duck hunter, my plane almost always has a 70 pound Labrador in the back seat. He wears muffs but shakes them off easily, I just put a sheet over the back seat, lower the flaps, cover the wing walk and he loads right up. He usually does not get up until after we land. Probably the best passenger I have unless he has gas.
  13. Credit card bills
  14. Recent oil change?
  15. Done - great site, thanks for keeping it going. Gary
  16. A carbon cub to fly from a small mountain strip near my home to the airport at the bottom of mountain where the mooney is based.
  17. Uber is great, we use it all the time when in NYC. As for AirBnB, I hate it because I am in the hotel business!
  18. Be careful, in my prior plane, a piper Dakota with the single dual mag, poor grounding was the cause for total mag failure and a subsequent force landing into a pnut field. The mag was repaired and ten hours later it failed again and we made KSSI. Investigations determined poor grounding after a new engine install was causing the points to over heat and burn up over time. Needless to say, I sold that plane and am now a happy owner of a mooney with two independent mags! So with all the grounding issues you appear to be having keep a close eye on your EGT's and if they start to rise, get on the ground quickly.
  19. Astelmaszek, Who are you insured with that gave you a 1M smooth limit with 80 hours retract time. Let me know and I will call them today, because AOPA insurance, Falcon, and several others have all used the 500 hr criteria.
  20. I think the piece is a good written article. I am currently renewing my insurance and with 350 hours total time, instrument rating and 100 hours in the last year, I can still not find anyone offering decent per passenger bodily injury coverage. They all limit liability from $100,000 to $250,000 and will only offer smooth coverage at 500 hours. The writer of the column (Damien Fowler) has a book out about fighting insurance companies after a GA accident. If you have assets to protect and family members that you would like to pass them down to, I suggest looking into the coverage being offered to GA pilots, the low limits are a joke. They will not cover a broken arm at todays emergency room prices. I guess I will have no passengers, other than my dog for another 150 hours. Gary
  21. Used air Wilmimgton last week for an overnight. No problems, good service, they put me in a community hangar due to thunderstorms. Gary
  22. They will open all the way if I do not adjust, motor was loose, I am flying this afternoon to see if problem is resolved.
  23. Thanks for the info, the limit switch is where the mechanics said they were going to check first.
  24. Has anyone else experienced cowl flaps slowly opening in flight? I had to close or adjust about every ten minutes on a flight this afternoon. I am at KILM for the night and plan on having someone at Air Wilmington check them out in the morning. Any suggestions, or experience with this problem would be appreciated.
  25. My oil temp will creep up in climb as well if I do not dial back the prop to 2500. In cruise, WOT and 2500 my oil temp will be between 200 and 210 on the factory guage whether ROP or LOP, all CHT's stay below 340. I am currently adding oil temp to the JPI for a more accurate reading.
