  1. two words Production Certificate. And yes, it would be a clean sheet design. Thats the way he rolls
  2. and he stood up com's in Ukraine in less than 24 hrs, something the current admin couldnt get done. Of course he is using existing technology from SpaceX and probably did it as a market ploy. I have learned one thing over the last 5 years, dont bet against Elon. Show me any company with best in class product, hypergrowth industry and arrogant competitors, and I want to invest in them.
  3. oh wow. I could understand your disdain if you relied on solving a massive problem like full self driving to enable you to be able to be mobile today, but Im betting thats not a Tesla in your driveway anyway, so no dog to fight here. Look for the Model Y to be the best selling car, not EV, in the US this year. But I hear the "big boys" are coming...still, and I hear King is coming out with an AP for us
  4. That might be shorting his skillset a bit. He has disrupted the energy, transportation, space, AI, robotics and possibly telecom industries with first principle thinking and solutions, not smoke and mirror parachutes, northstar systems, ecoflex engines etc. His zero dollar advertising budget doesn't allow him the spin time the likes of SAIC funded GM gets. He has a giant set of clappers and is not afraid to put it all on the line like he did with Tesla. And yet so many really despise him because he isnt their "bitch" and cant be controlled on both sides of our divided aisle Looks like his company, spacex, might be US's sole supplier of rocket engines in the near future now. Yea, Im a fanboy because, well, he has done things that are just remarkable. Hopefully, for the sake of Mooney's name, he ends up with the production certificate to put something in the sky 15 years from now we all go "wow" over...no parachute needed.
  5. how tight is your intake system?
  6. It would be great if he did. It would succeed for sure.
  7. I hope you dont have to pay floor planning on them while they wait, and I understand LG is footing the bill almost if not entirely for the new batteries. It will be interesting to see how GM executes its plan to convert to Electric vehicles and dethrone Tesla in the next 3 years as Mary stated..Somebody had better come up with some serious cash to put in to get it done, and its a one way cash valve at the UAW and DC, Perhaps their Chinese partner SAIC who builds those caddies?
  8. There were almost 190,000 vehicle fires in the U.S. in 2019, and they happen in gasoline vehicles at a much higher rate. It notes that from 2012 to 2020 there was about one Tesla vehicle fire per 205 million miles traveled—versus one per 19 million miles traveled for all types, citing data from the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and U.S. Department of Transportation. Chivvy Bolts are a bit more combustible and have been pulled off the market as a result, or it may have been they only sold 25 of them last qtr, While the cars are exploding, sales sure are not. "you did this Mary" "You Led"
  9. Elon has expressed interest in developing a VTOL elect plane in the future. It has been previously presented to him that acquiring the TC and Production cert of Mooney now might be an efficient way to enter this space when he has the bandwidth for this project. Once battery energy is 400whr/kg, he believes it becomes a feasible project. Who am I to say he's wrong
  10. Was this Jonathan Paul's record setting E by chance?
  11. Nope, A new Ultra owner didnt have his PPL 3 years ago and it was a bit more than that. I am currently working with a 17 YO getting his PPL in an Acclaim who is on the hunt for insurance less than 30K so he can go solo. Maybe it would be less if the hull value was reduced to 50K, but thats not the real risk...
  12. Jason, yes it can be done, but it comes with a hefty price. 1) Insurance...check with @Parker_Woodruff or Tom Hague with Wings insurance on how much. Dont be shocked at 30K/year. 2) Expect it to take a bit longer to obtain your PPL. You will have a lot more to learn and master with a higher degree of precision, especially sink rate and energy management 3) Dont expect your run of the mill time building CFI to be able to bring you to PTS standards easily in a Mooney. Get ready to import someone who can and will.. Mike Elliott Mooney Pros, Inc.
  13. try to contact jennwithmapa@gmail.com
  14. There are not a lot of them in existence
  15. the 210 is a much larger airplane, but the Mooney is .5" wider. Those pesky tape measures are hard to argue with.
  16. I have seen them. I think Paul Maxwell sets them up like that now, but he would be the better one to ask what he does and its' legality.
  17. I respectfully ask each of you consider making the Mooney Summit your charity using amazon smile, and when referencing an item on amazon, replace the "www" in the address link with "smile". This will trigger a 1/2 of 1% donation to the Mooney Summit to help assist downed Mooney Pilots immediate family. We have lost a few of our brethren lately and all contributions help us assist hurting families when they need us. https://smile.amazon.com/ch/47-4343940
  18. My condolences David.
  19. Nope. We teach the Bob Kromer method. Trim to TO position, approx 5# back pressure on start of roll. She will fly off if trim set right.
  20. too bad, there are a bunch of near empty buildings at Kerrville also. Let us know what dump you take it all to Jerry.
  21. Consider selling the "lot" to Paul Maxwell Jerry. It would have to be wholesaled for sure, but that would put your wife's mind at ease not having to deal with it when you exit, and it will be fiscally better than hiring two men and a truck to pay a dump to take it.
  22. I believe Jonny owns it and leases it back to Mooney for use, but things might have changed, I havent talked with anyone lately that would know anything about whats up
  23. Ill ask Kevin Kammer the next time I talk to him. He did just that for a stunt company in CA in a prior life before director of Customer Service at Mooney. He has some interesting stories for sure
  24. That looks like your trying to raise prices for an evening with the harem, Chris
