Darn I didn’t see that. I don’t know why it would be limited by altitude. Im going to call customer support to see what they say because my packaging got tossed so no looking back now:) I looked through and virtually all Pulse Oximeters show them for wellness use only and some list applications. I couldn’t pull up spec sheet on most. I’m flying today but will not get up past 10K. There Wellue model list aviation and its $179 on their Viatom web site. This might be the better choice.

First 4 month into ownership

I wouldn’t be concerned yet, it’s your first oil change with a plane that didn’t fly that much. With all the recent flying of your new plane it probably just loosened up the junk that has collected on the bottom of the oil pan. I would keep flying and see If it continues and develop a pattern. For oil analysis to be correct you need to put the correct amount of makeup oil back in. If you started with 8 quarts at the oil change and took your sample with only 6 quarts remaining you will have high readings. -
This is my summary from reading various articles and formulating my own opinion, other opinions will vary. Fly often and change your oil often is the best and then Camguard is not necessary. I fly often, change my oil often and use Camguard. I haven’t seen any evidence that it hurts:) What I have read and the basic experiments I have seen with various non additive oils and Camguard show that the best anti corrosive combination is with Phillips 20/50. This contradicts the thicker W100 being better for anti corrosion as I always thought to be true. W100 has been shown to be a better lubricate because the multi weight thickening agent will break down with time causing it to become closer to the 20 than the 50. So it’s better to change multi weight oils closer to 25 hours than 50 hours, especially in a turbo. I use W100 in the summer and W20/50 in the winter both with Camguard. Aeroshel 15/50 has decent anti Corrosion properties but the synthetic blend is not as good at suspending the lead in the oil.

I have been playing with Viatomtech a couple days now and it is really nice. You can set it to vibrate alarm to any saturation level to alert you. You can even set the intensity of the vibration. Factory default is 88% and I set mine to 92%. I also really like the App, it has a dashboard display that will stay open while your flying. I have my phone mounted in view in my plane so you can see at all times. It also tracks your history which is a nice feature so you can see how your saturation levels change through the flight. I highly recommend it so far!

I order it on Amazon. I tried to copy the link but I’m having difficulty. It is $120 and took a day to receive.

I received this today and it is pretty impressive! You can set the alarm to vibrate at the saturation level you desire. The app on you phone stays open for constant monitoring and keeps your history. I think it’s a must have for high flyers and well worth the money!! https://www.viatomtech.com/sleep-o2

There are a lot of optimistic people out there hoping the new Continental plant will produce better cylinders.

Does anyone fly with an Aerox mask below 18K to keep their O2 up? I am another one that needs to actively breath to keep my saturation levels up. I was thinking when I fly in the mid teens this would help. Im going to first try this wearable pulse oximeter that I ordered which has a vibrating alarm. You can set your alarm limit via the app and monitor yourself as well. https://www.viatomtech.com/sleep-o2

I don’t have a turbo but if your going so far lean of peak that your significantly dropping you MP you are also slightly changing you fuel/air ratio and inadvertently slightly enriching the mixture, possibly. Just thinking out loud.

I'm looking at a 1998 M20R vs M20R OVATION3

My FBI profile assessment. The guys been “employed” by his parents his entire life. Growing up privileged he has been able to hob knob with the affluent and has developed a knowledge of the buzz words and the ability to name drop. Too scared or unable to leave the security of the family job in the big apple he spins it as the rest of us are ignorant not knowing that New York is the center of the universe. Desperately trying to be relevant from his lack of personal accomplishment he has been involved in various volunteer work and has been educated through osmosis as a result. He has a concealed carry permit because he worked for his dad which was the real coin dealer and a business that has a high risk for robbery. The parents recently passed away so the win fall of money has come in so he’s moved into their flat in the high rise building and now Costco hearing aids and renting Piper Archers are sub par and no longer for him. He speaks like every trust fund kid I grew up with. -

What’s amazing is that we are so accustom to seeing post crash fires that if we see a crash without a fire we immediately assume it was a result of fuel exhaustion.

He lost me when everyone he knows has credentials but.....................himself:) Definitely more suited for Piperspace! -
Amex or Schwab debit card always work.

Great video!

That seems crazy a small crack could make that much noise?

Super cool!

The post crash fires are awful! I think it was the fire extinguisher thread where I mentioned that if your lucky enough to survive the crash you next need to survive the fire. And honestly the fire scares me more than the crash! So sad!!

I will also add by moving your seat back you stagger your shoulders which is helpful if you have 2 really big guys in the front. -

I slide my seat back since I rarely have 4 passengers in the plane. When I do that it gets yours legs out of the tunnel and allows you to sit with your knees bent or straight and move your feet around more. Wide shoes on the rudder pedals is another thing you will just have to figure out. I fly in all kinds of shoes and even hiking boots sometimes. With those I have to go to the outside of the pedals so they don’t hit in the middle. I’m almost 6’5” with a 13 shoe. -

A couple of reasons you want to use oxygen at night vs day but oxygen is the same day or night. Your eye have photoreceptors, rods and cones. For night vision the low light receptors in your eyes, rods, need oxygen to maintain light sensitivity. During the daytime they don’t need it because of the bright light and your eye primarily use the cones. Since we like to sleep at night and your eyes will fatigue easier making you feel more tired, supplemental O2 will help counteract both those effects. -

I do and I think you are on the right track with your choice. You can fly an Ovation anyway you want. With or without O2, IFR or day/night just fine. Very versatile model with lots of speed and cabin room! -

Lol, I’m Not sure what altitude you are at now but your starting to quote and reply to yourself:) -
Bummer, this is the 2nd Mooney today outside the US. Unfortunately 1 dead and 3 injured. https://sputniknews.com/europe/201909211076857268-at-least-one-dead-three-injured-as-single-engine-plane-crashes-in-italy---reports/

I’m using O2 more and more. I have a portable tank and it is great. I sure the built in O2 keeps the cabin free of cords but I like that I can get it filled so easy and cheap which makes me use it more often.
