  1. You know what is really funny about saying the 2 in the back are as good as new? You wanted to update your airplane so you put in Aspen and G750 but the one thing you need to protect, your hearing you disregard. ANR protects your hearing. Talk about exhaustion on flights is one thing. You'll be a 100% more relaxed without the drowning of the engines on those 5 hour flights. I'm really sorry so many people had to put me down starting with the IFR and ending with the O2 and my lung capacity. For all you people that have trouble breathing, get like i did 20 years ago a Concept 2 Rowing machine and get on it every other day. I keep it right by my bed. It's only $900 delivered and it's considered the single best piece of exercise that you can use. I use it 4 days a week. I'm also in a gym 5 days a week doing mostly cardio. For Bob Breville who responded to a long email with SO What!!! If you and your wife were to take care of your bodies like you take care of your airplane, you wouldn't need O2 at the lower levels as you do. NEITHER OF YOU EXERCISE AND IT'S OBVIOUS. If you did you wouldn't have these problems. My parents have both past away but in this picture my mom was 90 and my dad was 94 at the time. My family has been taking mega doses of vitamins our whole lives. My mom started me on them in 1954. I still take them today. i LEAVE YOU ALL WITH ONE SIMPLE CAVEAT. I joined your forum to learn about 2 airplanes and perhaps a little bit more. I did not join it to get bashed by so many people that don't know a thing about me and have condemned me for telling the truth. D
  2. Bob I just reread what I wrote you a few days ago. I think you need to use even more oxygen than you are using because anyone that could misconstrue and read this and reply such as you did about my putting you down with your headsets really needs to wake up. You haven't a clue. I wrote Bob, I just noticed your head sets. I flew with the DC 13.4 until a year ago when I purchased a pair of Lightspeed Zulu 3 Pilot Headset. If you really want to treat your self and your wife to something special, pick up a couple pairs. The difference is night and day. I have hearing problems as did my siblings and parents. My hearing aids are by Oticon and costs $6000 for a pair. The new headsets are a god's send try a pair or two from Sporty's You can return them if you like but my bet is you'll be happy your bought them. Don't bother replying. I've already removed the book mark and won't reply to anymore responses. I'm done.
  3. You mentioned the smoking pit. As a member of both the NYC and Nassau County Police reserves, I had access to the site. I was there and took these photos 2 days later. How it lingers in my consciousness to this day when someone mentions it. My sister lives 1/2 mile from Broadway and has been a regular at every show there for over 55 years. She see on average 2 shows a month with her friends. She lives one block from the Flat Iron Building. NYC is a place that is alive 100% of the time. There is always a place to go and see from the Bowery to Soho to 14th street and all the way up town. We have a diversity of cultures like no other city in the world. It has been written that you can eat in a different place for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day of the week for years with out ever going back to the same venue. There is a reason I've lived here my whole life of almost 70 years. Because there is no other place on the planet that to me comes close. I guess you might say I'm prejudice which I am. As for meeting people I'm always for it. All they have to do is send an invitation and after speaking on the phone and finding common grounds I make my mind up. D
  4. Oh one more thing Thin. Let me see if you can grasp this one. When you put up a file photo of I think you and a woman in front of a plane, it would be smarter to take a close shot that is clear instead of one that was taken a mile away and digitally brought closer so it is impossible to make out whom the photo is or who is with them. If you're going to be that type that has nothing intelligent to say, try and keep your fingers off the keyboard sire.
  5. Nastiness is not a nice trait. But when you have to say something because you had nothing else to do, you chimed in.
  6. I see in your case it took you all the way across either the Gothells, GWB, Holland or Lincoln. I almost moved to my girl friends home 10 yrs ago in Wayne except that town is just a speck on the map. It does have N07 and CDW with in 10 miles. That's a good thing but in my case I just love the hustle and bustle of NY although I must admit traffic in NYC and any major city can get to one as you are aware of in NJ. My uncle lives 8 miles from 3N6, which when they retired and moved to Monroe Twnshp 20 yrs ago it was rural farm land. It is now anything but and just going to pick me up can take 3 times as long as it did just 15 yrs ago.
  7. I was young and don't remember the exact year. Thanks for telling me. It goes to show you how little I know about Mooney's. I'm only beginning to learn. Been an Archer pilot since 1994 mostly. Your panel really looks great. It's easy to take in information from those who know. Thank you.
  8. What started as I tried to learn about 2 airplanes has morphed beyond where I want to be. I'm done.
  9. Maybe that's because the world starts in NY. By the time it gets to you it's ancient history.. I left you my card A, you never called
  10. Yes, 1965 in a Statesman. I was all of 15 years old. About 5'4" tall and 120 pounds dripping wet when my sisters boy friend told me to lift the gear up. I thought i weighed a ton. That was the first and last time. I've no clue now, nor frankly am i interested in giving it a tug.
  11. I know what you mean. For the record, I drove MB for the last 20 years. Last year I decided to get a Honda Accord Touring with the 1.5 liter engine. Road rage is in every metropolitan. So when I drive I stay with in 5 mph of the speed limit. I'm always on cruise control. I look straight ahead and I let whom ever wants to get in front of me go. I now drive the type of car that blends in well. When I'm in the mood to let off some steam I have use of my brothers 2006 Z06 Corvette and his 2018 ZR1. Recently I gave up my full carry license in NYC because of several reasons. The paper work with NYC is a pain even though for years I was a peace officer with Suffolk County, L.I. SPCA. I stopped doing it back in the late 90s. If I had continued then after 9/11, I would have been able to keep it for ever. I go through life now staying benign and enjoying to the best I can. I'm non violent but I am 6'2" 240 pounds with a brown belt in Judo. I've not been shot in years and hope never to be again. It wasn't pleasant experience. D
  12. Beautiful panel Bob. But it's not the panel that would stop me from purchasing an older plane but the plane itself. My early schooling was at the Academy of Aeronautics. It is now called Vaughn College at LGA. I got my A&P there but after staying in the school basically to stay out of Viet Nam, my dad offered me a job in his Coin store and I've only looked back to smile and say I'm happy I made the change. Really old planes have inherent things that fail over time if not addressed correctly. Zinc chromate is only so good for a limited time and then corrosion can set in. When I'm ready to buy, I'm going to get something that I don't have to worry about systems failing or breaking at a bad time. This is why I started the hunt and learning curve 9 months before hand. What ever plane I buy will be the one plane for the rest of my life. My dad lived to 96 and my uncle 101. I'm turning 70 and see myself flying maybe 15 more years. I flew 3 years with the Aspens in N208GG. The panel shown below. Although it's capable, I was not a fan of it. As for the Garmin 750 which is also a great unit, I don't like touch screens. I've used the Avidyne IFD540 and like it more. Plus if you incorporate the IFD 100 you can do all your planning on your tablet and it transfers easily. You have touch screen but you also have buttons and I find the unit is more user friendly, at least for me with my limited VFR years all 26 of them . Again all equipment is up to the individual and no single unit is better than the next. It's all a matter of preferences. Steven Leary showed me in his panel for A-dsb is L3 which is both A-dsb and Tcas. Tcas the airlines use. It's a better operating system. I think the absolute best part of your plane though is the landing gear handle. Here you can do your gym work out with out ever leaving the cockpit :))) Dan
  13. You can use your 9mm all you want. I'll stick to my Light weight officer's model Colt 45ACP I've carried full time in NYC since 1983. Thank god I only had to use it in one shoot out in 1988 because the rounds really make a mess on the side walks . Touche
  14. Bob, I was just rereading your remark about old planes. I've been flying old planes my entire life. Yes the newer planes have modern technology in them but in either case they do the same thing as the old ones do. They fly us from point a to point b. I will never knock an old plane. My most favorite old plane I've ever been up in was a P51D and I flew with Bill Lear in 1969 in his own Lear 23B with CJ610 Turbo jets
