  1. Disagree. The first few years out of 50 should mean little to most buyer. Having the last 40 years along with the FAA 337 records will suffice for most buyers. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Mine just started rolling to the right. Troubleshooting indicates a leaking right Aileron servo. Ordered two from Alan Fox just in case the left one goes too. A TT will be going in a soon as it is available but would like to keep the Brittain going until then since we really don’t know when that will be. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  5. Looking for a working Brittain Aileron servo. Called Lasar and they did not have any. Will be looking in EBay next but thought someone here may have a good set they want to sell. My C will be getting a TruTrak AP as soon as it is available but it could be months and my right Aileron servo just developed a leak. If I can’t find a working servo I may try to patch it up.
  6. Agree! It only took one time to make a believer. I have a second electric AI in my plane. The AHRS in ForeFlight is good but it’s not part of my scan and in fact I usually don’t have it turned on. My second AI is part of my instrument scan so I know if there is a problem early. Had a vacuum failure last year and I first spotted the problem from my AIs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. I believe everything except parking/camping for amphibians on grass is open. Everything today looked like it was drying in’s very nicely. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  8. The GNC 355 does not have a NAV radio built in. It will do LPV approaches and has a 10 watt COM radio but no NAV radio so no VOR/LOC/ILS. Still, it is very capable and if you already have a second radio that has a NAV function then probably all you need if you want to save quite a few bucks over a GTN650. I’m certainly taking a look at at it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  10. Not exactly parked on the beach and I’ve doing this annually for more than a decade with no issues. Whenever I do come back from the keys the airplane gets a good rinse with fresh water to wash off salt deposits. It is the only time of the year that it sees a water hose. The rest of the year it gets washed and waxed regularly (especially before going to the Keys) with a spray bottle. My cover fits tightly. I make sure the straps are tight and there are no lose straps flapping in the wind. I suppose it is possible a very small amount of sand (never seen any) could get under the cover but I use the cover only during travel and I’ve not seen paint damaged as a result of the cover. Regardless, IMHO the benefits far outweigh any negatives.
  11. This! The covers work. My plane lives in a hangar but the cover goes with me whenever I travel. Unless you are flying daily you may not notice a small leak through the windows and into the steel frame. My C also has the avionics panels up front and I’m not taking a chance on one of those leaking. The cover takes care of all of that and keeps prying eyes from looking inside. BTW...my plane is in Florida and has no corrosion issues. Always interesting to hear folks say planes here in Florida turn into a pile of rust in a short time. I’ve been in the Keys the last couple of weeks on vacation and the plane is parked outside with covers on. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  12. I was quoting post #20 from Niko, or so I thought. Instead of quoting the entire post it only showed part of the post that had nothing to do with speed restrictions. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. While flying through the Orlando Bravo last weekend I heard ATC repeatedly saying “disregard speed limitations” and actually telling some folks to speed up if able. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. A tug on the Jbar is not enough. You can tug on the Jbar and it will feel locked yet the green down lock light will be off because the Jbar is not perfectly seated thereby closing the switch. Whenever I do the Jbar tug I always call out loud “green light” while verifying the light is indeed green. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  17. Alex, got my radio back but the jury is still out as to whether I have a good radio or not. Long story. The shop definitely fixed the wafer switch that was cracked but now I’m having some issues receiving on some frequencies. It transmits fine at all frequencies and receives just fine at some but not all. That being said, my radio is missing one of the guide pins and I have reason to suspect it it not properly aligned when in the tray. It could be that I have a tray issue as well but not sure. The shop said they tested the radio and it worked perfectly. Anyway, I just picked up a used TKM MC170b and I’ll be headed to the airport tomorrow praying that it works. It would be interesting to see if my kx170 works in your plane. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  19. Will do! BTW if you want to keep the bulk of your radio for some reason the only part I need is the back plate with the guide pins. You will need to remove a few screws to separate it form the rest. Alternatively don’t bother and send the whole thing and I’ll perform the surgery. Thanks again and I’ll keep watching for a pm from you. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  20. I would have to agree here. Just recently did my interior and had all the panels out. Installed acoustic foam from Spruce everywhere and I can’t tell the difference. I have a DB meter and for the life of me did not think of taking before and after readings (major fail) but I believe if it had made a significant or even some difference I would have noticed. My Bose A20s do far more to control the noise. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  22. Any Mooneyspacers out of KOXD or nearby? My son is starting a graduate program at Miami University and I will probably be making the trip from Jacksonville, FL on a regular basis. Mama will insist in seeing her boy every once in a while, and, who am I kidding, I will miss him terribly as well so we’ll be stretching our Mooney’s leg a bit and looking forward to having an excuse to fly a bit farther than typically. Anyway, looks like a nice airport with very good reviews in ForeFlight. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  23. Looks like I may need a part after all. I repaired my kx170 but it has a broken guide pin and that is causing it to not properly aligning itself in the tray sometimes. If your offer still stands I would very much like the radio so I can harvest the backplate with the guide pins. Let me know and I can PayPal you shipping cost. Thanks. 24. If he agrees to come I’m sure you will find MooneySpacers willing to pitch in. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. Never heard of this either!! Agree, even 5 inches would be great. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
