  1. Past hour
  2. Actually I stand corrected. If you bring enough money....bags and bags.....then YES - You can buy the Company and have access to everything!......
  3. With my mom and baby brother. BTW, my baby brother just turned 50.
  4. He moved to Tucson and flew A-10s at DM, then flew A7s and then F-16s for the AZANG. Then he retired and flew for some airline.
  5. I had one for my J and they're the best made. The buyer of my J wanted it so much he paid close to the full price of a new one. If I didn't have my plane for sale I'd buy it.
  6. Today
  7. Juan Rivera did my instrument check ride a couple of years ago. He sometimes has cancellations so may be a good idea to ask. He did mine out of Mesquite in my C… -Don
  8. I know a DPE in northeastern FL that might offer to help.
  9. If the installed base is 7500 airplanes and each is worth $100k that makes an installed base worth $750M. What percentage of the base does it take to fix the problem? 1%? 2%? The financials indicate that a solution will be found that keeps the fleet in the air
  10. I don't think it matters whether it is set to continental or regional radar (other than speculation that the lower resolution continental radar may load quicker since it presumably requires less bandwidth). I've seen the same artifact many times on my 650xi at low altitude despite normally keeping mine set to regional, and once I climb out and get ADS-B reception the data always fills in. Interestingly, I noticed on a recent trip across Wyoming on V6 at the MEA (10k MSL, but only 2-3k AGL) when I had poor reception the FIS-B seemed to be smart enough to load a smaller than normal ring of radar data around my location first, then expand as I continued down the airway toward an area of better reception. I thought that was neat, as it's the first time I'd spent a significant period of time with marginal FIS-B reception at altitude.
  11. I flew Part 121 with crew members who had an SI for sleep apnea. They just had to use a CPAP machine with data logging and provide that data each 6 months. No big deal. You can do it Norm!
  12. Any reputable gear manufacturer would be able to replicate a worn gear to new dimensions, especially if you remake both mating gears. Just as with buying one set from Mooney, it will not be inexpensive, but if you can aggregate requests from 10-15 owners, the per set price will come down; if you can get requests from 50 people, the per set price may become attractive. But don't set yourself up to be seen as possibly selling the gear sets yourself! Each person will need to make a written request, and I e person send it off to the gear manufacturer, all attached to a single letter for the total order.
  13. Without question Mr Weber was one of the nicest most honest men you’d have the honor to meet. He was a no nonsense guy who meant what he said and said what he meant. I always felt fairly treated at his shop in addition it’s carried on in my opinion. Unfortunately we’re running out of up and coming youngsters who want to get into the business. DB
  14. So that's the real issue then. If they're not giving away the data, not even in exchange for money then yeah, we're on our own. Suckers we were that we bought from such a company that either can't or won't manufacture needed parts and likewise will not release the data so that we can do it ourselves. Are you sure they're not giving the data away not even in exchange for money?
  15. And Mooney is not releasing the approved data (as @Sabremech said). What is the value of Mooney now? It is the engineering data, drawings, specifications, flight test data and Type Certificates, etc. - the Intellectual Property. They are not giving that away.
  16. Before you balance prop make sure the blade play in the hub is within limits, track the blade tips to make sure blades are not bent
  17. My point is that Mooney is not going to give or sell you the drawing or approved data. So, AI isn’t going to do you much good in producing the part. You’re missing quite a bit in making a part. Who here commenting about OPP parts has actually made a part using the OPP rule? I have!
  18. If it is so simple: Why didn't the US Financial LLC investors that supposedly bought 80% of Mooney put a measly $1 million of "get things moving funds" into Mooney and build inventory? Certainly they have a vested interest. And the Mooney site lists 46 Mooney Service Centers. Why don't the MSC's each purchase a measly $20-25K of Mooney parts to "get things moving" and build inventory? Certainly they have a vested interest. So now it is why don't 300 Owners send money to Mooney.... so that only three (3) Owners can pick which parts they personally want built and stocked. I think that is call the Greater Fool Theory....
  19. Does anyone know a DPE in the area of North Dallas, or anywhere, that would do my commercial in my M20E? Thanks, Tim
  20. I have sleep apnea and got an SI. I also had heart failure (now in great shape), type 2, and was able to get a third class medical, then do basic med. You can overcome this for sure. -Don
  21. @Sabremech My point is that if one has the approved data it is trivial, really absolutely trivial to put together the documentation to have it manufactured if really all it takes is for the owner to participate in just one of those 5 steps. You feed the approved data to an AI and it spits out the necessary documentation in the next minute. You go to any machining shop and ask for the part to be made according to your documentation. Presto, part done. Or am I missing something?
  22. I replaced my Stock TIT prove around 60h ago, so I expect it should be OK. I've noticed that if I calibrate my JPI TIT after the stock TIT, they will differ depending on what altitude I fly on. If I calibrate it for at 4000ft at some power setting, JPI TIT will under read if I then fly higher, and vice versa. Right now I think it's calibrated so it's not showing "too low" values on the JPI, where I think it's better to be safe than sorry. Used flower pot, digital meter and spark plug pin. If I didn't mess up, my mags should be timed within 0.5degress. At FL 160 where the turbo have to work harder I have: 25" 2500 12.6g/h (65% ROP) EGT: Highest 1418f - Lowest 1353f - TIT: 1499f CHT: 359f - 330f - - 29.5" 2300 10.1 (65% LOP) EGT: Highest 1493f - Lowest 1406f - TIT: 1599f CHT: 353f - 316f My Cyl 6 EGT is lowest by ~40f from the others. *** I've checked some other flights at FL140. There my TIT was ~1500F at 25" 2500 12.6g/h
  23. Answer: you do not need the approved data to manufacture an OPP part. If you have an original part, you can reproduce that part.
  24. To my understanding, sleep apnea isn't normally a tough one to get around if you use the CPAP.
  25. But Mooney is still there and has all this data. So you're telling me we could produce these parts by participating in just one of those 5 steps of manufacturing the part and the part can be manufactured by literally anyone as long as we get the design data from Mooney?? What am I missing? Btw I used AI to draft the necessary documents to participate in all 5 steps in literally 49 seconds. https://x.com/i/grok/share/oKiFudifIdBOOzVdbYYNUSBQH
  26. I agree with @Pinecone, mine would have a TIT ~1500 at that power setting. What are the egts?
