Mac201 Posted June 12, 2013 Report Posted June 12, 2013 The end of my extension support arm for the baggage door broke. Any suggestions on finding a replacement? Thanks! Quote
Hank Posted June 12, 2013 Report Posted June 12, 2013 I'd like the same part for the "me" door. It's been bent and straightened out several times, and I just rebent it and WD-40'd it over the weekend. So far the baggage door thingy is doing well, I think. "If it moves and it's not supposed to, duct tape it." "If it doesn't move, and it's supposed to, apply WD-40." Quote
KSMooniac Posted June 12, 2013 Report Posted June 12, 2013 LASAR would be the best bet. I have one on my salvage J but I'm not ready to let it go yet. Quote
N9660M Posted June 13, 2013 Report Posted June 13, 2013 You might try taking it into your local FBO and asking them if they can repair it. Mine broke last year as well, and my shop here was able to weld if back together. I'm not a welder, but my guess would have been that welding it would have been very difficult. But the weld is barely noticeable, and it's been holding up fine since. Probably a lot cheaper than buying a new one. Quote
Sven Posted June 13, 2013 Report Posted June 13, 2013 Mine broke, too. I found an autocad file for the support arm and went to a friend who made me one. It's perfect. It won't let me upload the file but if you PM me I could email it to you. Quote
bumper Posted June 13, 2013 Report Posted June 13, 2013 Any good TIG welder should be able to fix it, no problem. If you want to bring it by my hangar . . . . Quote
Mac201 Posted June 17, 2013 Author Report Posted June 17, 2013 Thanks for the help. I think we are going to repair it and have it welded back together. Bumper, thanks for the offer in Nevada! Quote
