Joe Zuffoletto Posted March 26, 2013 Report Posted March 26, 2013 Nothing fancy here... just a couple iPhone clips stitched together from my final leg home from Cabo yesterday. Clear, smooth day over the Rockies on a sunny Spring afternoon. And a quick reminder to Oscar of what snow looks like. 2 Quote
Jamie Posted March 26, 2013 Report Posted March 26, 2013 nice. Ok... it's beautiful and people do it a lot apparently. But what's going through your mind about "what do I do if the engine quits?" It doesn't look like there's any place to put down. At all. Also... looked to me like you were at 17,500. If true, was that so you could stay VFR? Quote

If true, was that so you could stay VFR? Believe it or not, there were airports within gliding distance the whole way, including Montrose, Gunnison, Buena Vista and Leadville. Go to FlightAware and check my track overlaid on the sectional and you'll see what I mean. I usually depart the LA Basin VFR to save time and then get a popup IFR clearance to Denver once out of the congested airspace. I prefer to cross the Rockies in the 20's but the winds in the flight levels yesterday sucked. Hence 17,500.' 1 Quote
Oscar Avalle Posted March 26, 2013 Report Posted March 26, 2013 Cool, thanks it really reminded me that I have not gone skiing for a while... and I must admit: I miss it! But seriously nice video and thanks for sharing. Abrazo from a tropical Guatemala (with a recent 6.2 quake...). Quote
Jeff_S Posted March 27, 2013 Report Posted March 27, 2013 Looks just like the view from an airliner, only a lot more fun! Quote
rbuck Posted October 27, 2013 Report Posted October 27, 2013 Made me homesick. I learned to fly in Boulder, and have since moved to Washington state. It's pretty, but not the Rockies. Quote
