If the ads are USEFUL to the audience then they will be accepted and both will benefit,  if not the site will cease to exist and something else will take your place.

Wherever you end up sourcing the ads from, please ensure you have some comeback on them if they start supplying malware links - I've seen this on some other forums and it creates a great deal of unpleasantness to say nothing of the hassle involved cleaning it up

I would prefer banners on the top instead of the side. On small screen devices such as phones, it becomes a problem to read the posts if the ads are on the side

Otherwise some may assume eats (pizza and flies). A fly being the common insect! Flies being the plural of fly.

The top banner brings most revenue. While reading forums advetisements on top bar and right bars are least distracting.

I think that ads related to Mooneys would be a useful addition and everyone would benefit from it.  I agree though, pop ups are so annoying and/or any ad that produces noise or other gimmicks to MAKE you notice them.  The Barnstormers format is very acceptable to me.  Good luck on finding a solution that will appeal to your prospective advertisers and thereby compensate you for your time in offering such a great site to all of us.

Beechtalk as a sample is a great suggestion which I endorse. Only comment, please no ads that move or popups because they are so annoying.

I would hope you continue to have the classifieds.  My product sales do not support any advertisements, I know I have tried it.  I even had a banner on a large site and got one sale. Now I know maybe that is a reflection of a poor product, and perhaps plead guilty, however it does not change the character of my message.

I like the idea of having Mooney specific advertising, and would actually visit them if interesting, but please only on the top banner which is not intrusive. Please not on the sides, or no pop-ups or pop unders ever! This would destroy space for active content. Perhaps if possible, if someone donates to the site with whatever terms you choose, they could choose an ads- free version of mooney space as it currently is?

I haven't seen that we've reached a decision about ads but I've seen spam advertising.

Is this what the majority of members want? Was there a vote?

Or is the Vendor Forum the place for ads and vendors selling their things?
