docket Posted January 10, 2010 Report Posted January 10, 2010 After many years I unsubscribed from the MAPA email list today. I got tired of ten emails a day and having to read through all the extraneous stuff just to find the one kernel of information.
N6843N Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 I unsubscribed 8 years ago. Just not worth the trouble for me. I wonder why they don't use sometning like this its so much easier to use.
danb35 Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 The question of a web forum vs. a mailing list is often debated. One big advantage of the mailing list is that it comes to you, while you have to go to the web forum periodically to check if there's anything new. Ten emails a day? Doesn't sound like much to be complaining about...

drpep Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 Likewise, way too many emails with so much repitition. I have also unsubscribed. Even more challenging is the number of emails that I have to delete off my blackberry makes my cell phone way too labur intensive.

danb35 Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 ...or set up filters to drop each of the lists into its own folder.

docket Posted January 12, 2010 Author Report Posted January 12, 2010 My thoughts are that when I want to find out something about the Mooney I can actively do that with this website. Whether it was one email an hour, or more, the MAPA emails always seemed to be insanely repetitious. Moreover, the conspiracy by the servers at MAPA was self evident because the MAPA emails only seemed to come in full force when I was trying to reply to one of my business emails. Somehow the Einsteins that organized my PDA gave the incoming mail priority over outgoing mail so everytime MAPA got on a roll (and if I was in a place with limited bandwith like the ramp trying to file a flight plan) I learned that I might as well call it in. Last week there must have been 10 - 15 emails about slips or crabs on approach while I was waiting to depart KSAT which ultimately spun me into a level of pissed off that certainly didn't do me any good -- especially when I was trying to file my flight plan on the same PDA. So, I am now free of the dreaded mailing list and the flight plans are flowing free.
