Sorry, I prefer PetSmart over Sporty's. A couple of bucks gets me a clucky or quacky squeaky toy. Simply remove the whistle from the toy's posterior and presto, you have a pitot cover!

(shown is one I made for a student's 172)

I use an old tennis ball with a small x cut. I took an 18"x1.5" ribbon of sunbrella fabric, bright orange, and put it in a second small cut 90 degrees away from first. Very visible. This fabric holds it's color. The fabric was left over from a tail opening bra that you can see in my gallery (if it all transferred over).

We use the tennis ball with a hole punched in it to fit on the pitot tube and a slit cut from the hole to prevent pressure from blowing up the airspeed indicator.

Yep! I was at Tornado-and-Fun last year. The Cessna on my right wingtip was turned around and inverted on top of the Bonanza by his right wingtip. Things could very easily gone differently for many of us. A month later, at my brother's wedding, the tornado was across the county.

Found out by nearly losing a third one that you can pull it nice and snug and it stays on, for instance when that nice front blew through the weekend after Labor Day, and I was tied down outside. Still have that pitot cover!

That is kind of a personal question... :):P:D Mine was one of the first "things" I bought with the plane. The streamer is frayed, but the velcro still holds it on when the going gets tough. I have thought it was lost a couple times...and I actually had regret. Kind of like an old broken in tennis shoe. Always glad to see it.

I like flytesters chicken. Must go shopping and try to find an eagle.  the way it is mounted should make it scream!!

The rubber chicken is appropriate for a Mooney. It is also appropriate for a Cessna if it is embedded in the trailing edge of the wing or rudder. ;)
