Hank Posted Thursday at 11:37 PM Report Posted Thursday at 11:37 PM This is my next project. Let's see how it goes. Quote
KSMooniac Posted Thursday at 11:44 PM Report Posted Thursday at 11:44 PM AeroComfort in San Antonio is the gold standard for Mooney yokes, but other shops can/have done nice work too. I sent mine to AC 15? years ago and am still happy with the product. Years ago there was a DIY thread on beechtalk with some step-by-step pics that made it seem doable by a serious amateur with a lot of patience. Had that thread/tutorial existed before I sent mine off, I would have given it a shot myself because I like DIY and learning new things. More recently I tried DIY on a BMW steering wheel with a padded alcantara/suede material and the results were not great. Quote

YuriE Posted Friday at 01:03 AM Author Report Posted Friday at 01:03 AM Also - any advice on where to get electronic clock like on yours (I assume it fits your classic Mooney yoke)? Quote
hammdo Posted Friday at 01:08 AM Report Posted Friday at 01:08 AM About a grand for both. They will take it via ups I believe. This shop does a lot of Beech yokes… http://www.dallassteeringwheel.com/contact.htm I designed the Mooney logo and had it made by a different shop. After these were done, I added the logo myself… -Don Quote
hammdo Posted Friday at 01:09 AM Report Posted Friday at 01:09 AM Clock came with the plane - not sure if they’re made anymore… maybe from a parts yard used… -Don Quote

donkaye, MCFI Posted Friday at 01:31 AM Report Posted Friday at 01:31 AM I was going to send my yokes out this year and have them leather wrapped, and then I talked with a friend who said, "Why not just have them powder coated?" I like the feel of the yokes the way they are now. I've flown with planes that have the leather and they are fine, but I thought I'd give the powder coating a try. I can always go back and have the leather done if I don't like the results. 1 Quote
YuriE Posted Friday at 01:32 AM Author Report Posted Friday at 01:32 AM Photos? How much was powder coating? Quote

YuriE Posted Friday at 01:39 AM Author Report Posted Friday at 01:39 AM Would like to see if I like the photos - but I definitely like the price if its for two... ;-) If you could send contact info with photos - would much appreciate! Quote
IvanP Posted Friday at 04:45 AM Report Posted Friday at 04:45 AM Hector at Aero Comfort did this for my yokes 2 years ago. Very happy with his work. Around 1 AMU if I recall correctly. 3 Quote

Will they fit the shafts for 1964 Mooney M20C? Shafts are 3/4", as far as I know, with the bolt through. Price bites, though. Edited Friday at 03:05 PM by YuriE New info. Quote
hammdo Posted Friday at 02:25 PM Report Posted Friday at 02:25 PM They will need to create an adapter, I looked into it also….nice setup — verify pricing by calling them. They do not have an online store - they do it the old fashion way - kinda refreshing… -Don Quote

Echo Posted Friday at 03:43 PM Report Posted Friday at 03:43 PM Fancy. A rubber bike grip cost four bucks, has better tactile feel and takes about a minute to install. Quote

I do know many prefer this option, and that's what I have on mine at the moment (came from previous owner). Need to re-fresh - it's coming apart. Mulling this option too... TheAv8r Posted Friday at 03:56 PM Report Posted Friday at 03:56 PM +1 for Hector at AeroComfort. He did my yokes and my full interior, his craftsmanship, attention to detail, and communication were fantastic. You can mail the yokes to him for him to wrap and return. Quote

Everyone is raving about him - and it does look fantastic in your photo! It is certainly an option - I'm just looking at all options, and it appears some significantly cheaper options looking very nice are also available. Quote
