Brake Oring thickness

Recommended Posts

On the MS28755-224 brake Oring, I found the spec on the thickness to be between 0.135 inches and 0.143 inches.  Every Oring I have ordered has been on low side of the spec.  Has anyone measured the thickness with a micrometer and found a supplier on the higher end of the spec?

What’s your reference?  The -224 diameter is 1/8” or 0.125”.  Is that not correct?

Are you having trouble with the calipers not sealing after replacing the o-rings?

On my calipers.
I used PN: MS28775-326

Older M20E. There were several orings used. This one sealed the best. Someone on here provided me the reference years ago.

My (feeble) research shows that for the 1967 model year Mooney changed the caliper size.

Pre ‘67 the o-ring was 1 5/8” x 2” x 3/16” pn MS28775-326.

The ‘67 model year changed to 1 3/4” x 2” x 1/8” pn MS28775-224.

I did see a reference to the diameter size you state for the -224 of 0.135 - 0.143 inches.  Which I can’t say I’ve measured the o-ring diameter last time I did my calipers, maybe 15 years ago (which I’m using the -326 pn on my C).  If there’s corrosion in the o-ring groove on the piston or the sealing surface on the caliper, a scotchbrite pad might clean it up enough that it will seal.  If there’s been too much metal removed, then I don’t think an 1/8” diameter o-ring 0.010” undersized from the 0.135” minimum spec is going to fix your problem.  (Purely speculative on my part.)

Good luck.
