kerry Posted December 9, 2022 Report Posted December 9, 2022 I bought a Lancair 235 with a IO-320. Has a MT electric constant speed prop. I'ts been sitting in a hangar not flying for 12 years. I'm in the process of doing all the things to get it flight worthy. I've contacted a CFI with Lancair time to check me out when the time comes. I was wondering if anyone on Mooneyspace has had Lancair 200-300 type experience and how it compares to flying short body Mooney's. Quote
KSMooniac Posted December 9, 2022 Report Posted December 9, 2022 I got a little bit of stick time in a 360 when I worked at Lancair/Columbia in the 90's. I thought it was a nice flying plane, but the one I tried had the bigger tail. Hopefully yours does too... if not, I would try to figure out how to get one! I don't know for sure if they were used on the 235's or only the 320/360 versions, though. Fun plane, and far better manners than the 4-seat kit planes they made. I presume you already did or are in the process of a full airframe inspection. I don't know how well they age since none were "old" when I was in that arena. I suspect you'll have trouble at all with the transition from a Mooney, but it might take some practice to get used to the lighter stick and lower stability. Quote
