Just noodling around the Internet this morning, and ran across Continental CSB19-01 which suggests removing the primer diverter valve, and plumbing around it to avoid "diverter valve malfunction that can result in a partial or complete loss of power."  While not an AD, the CSB does say "This Service Document updates the manufacturer's Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA) for determining serviceable condition.

I had not heard of this before, and I'm wondering if any 231 or 252 drivers (TSIO-360-GB, LB, MB, or SB) have done this?

I don't remember this being discussed. I'm sure someone will chime in soon.

Yes, the primer button will kill the engine if mistakenly pressed in flight.  I had a student mistakenly hit that switch instead of the boost pump during GUMPS.  The engine can be primed for starting adequately using the boost pump.   IIRC, they also mention potential for engine damage?  In any case, I would remove it.  It’s just another thing that could go wrong.

Get it done! it’s neither difficult nor expensive and long overdue. Many past threads here on it. Let google be your friend.

On which engine?  The boost pump shouldn't be used on an M20K unless there's been a failure of the engine driven pump.

It was on a 231 that has the prime button right above the throttle vernier.
