Tallahassee last night...

I owed a friend a favor for taking me to hitch airliners out of MCO and TPA so many times.  So me and 2 others went up to TLH last night to pick his girlfriend up and fly back to Lakeland - she's got a ride back to Tallahasse on Monday with her sister.  Beautiful flight over the Gulf Coast.  Tailwinds on the flight back made what's normally a 4.5 hour drive into a 55 minute flight.

Flight photos are from the trip out there...you can see how calm the Gulf was...

Came back IFR at 11,000 - 195 Knots GS most of the way, and better on descent.

If I want a $100 hamburger, I have to taxi to the other side of the airport.  If I actually takeoff, the price goes up substantially.

Looks like it was a fun flight.

What an awesome looking night to fly Parker.  Nice that you're finally getting to fly her.

Hey, that girlfriend of yours (252BH) has got some really long legs!!  That flight according to the tracklog on Flightaware is like 12 hours long.  Wow!!

My son attends Florida State (go Noles!) in Tally so I've made the trip up the left coast myself. It takes me about two and a half hours versus seven by car, and since I can easily make the roundtrip in a day, the costs come out to about the same since I don't have to check into a hotel.

One of these days I'm going to land in Cedar Key for a $200 hamburger, or stone crabs as it may be.

By the way, why is the standby AI off to its side in the picture?

A guy who used to live down here, and now lives in Leeward Ranch, Ocala, FL landed at Cedar Key a few years ago in his Eagle.

Had about a 200 foot rollout, sans gear, which he inadvertently kept in the wells. 2,355 ft. is way more than enough with full flaps, on speed, gear down, and less than a mid field touch down.

Congratulations on getting your plane "in action" Parker. I suppose we are going to have to listen to alot of "I owed a friend a favor" stories now.  Smile

Hey, on another note, I love having an excuse to fly.  We should have a $100 Hamburger Forum.  My favorite is to go buy groceries, there are some great farmers' markets reachable from KFCM about 9 months of the year.  Madison, WI is one of the best in the country.  Virocqua WI for Amish pies and bread.

Everglade City is 2400 x 60 and Cedar Key is 2355 x 100.  I'm not sure I see Evergalde City as significant;y different than Cedar Key.

I have flown into both and find that for whatever reason that Everglades City seems a little easier.  It may be due to the more favorable wind direction or the way the approach ends of the runway sets up at Everglades City.  Ultimately, its full flaps and no more than 75 knots on final, anything more and the ground roll may be longer than expected.

Here is a photo a friend of mine took of my landing when we both flew to Everglades City a couple of weeks ago.  My wife and I brought our bikes and had a great time riding around Everglades City and getting lunch at the seafood restaurants.  It really is a nice trip, you just have to make sure you keep your approach speed at 75 knots or less, anything more can be a problem.

Landing on (or near) the numbers at Everglades Airpark at Everglades City, Florida. Beautiful area.
