I recently sold my Comanche 250 and have purchased a nice 1965 M20E. I noticed something unusual with the flap stop on the pilot side and it doesn’t look like my friends C model.  It barely makes contact with the hex head 10/32” bolt. I believe when the plane was painted in 2018 the flap hinge assembly was installed on the wrong side (or wrong part number). Can anyone confirm that this hinge is on the wrong side of the plane?

Something is definitely out of alignment between the two halves of the hinge.  I have to look in the parts manuals to see if there is a difference between the left and right hinges.

It appears that most of the parts are the same left versus right, the fairing being the exception.  They are different from side to side.

Thanks, I was supposed to get the maintenance manuals in the purchase but I apparently don’t have them. This side has a heavy wing and was checking the flap adjustments. Something is definitely off and the bolt is bent slightly. I ordered a couple new bolts but I need to figure this out.

I have one that lines up like that too on my 67’ F.  Just a data point.

How long has it been like that on your plane? My plane was painted in late 2018 and it's obvious that it's been out of alignment since then. Are you concerned about that bolt breaking or an un-commanded roll if it slips past the bolt?

I wasn’t until you mentioned it.

No I’m not worried.  It’s the up limit so I don’t think it gets much stress.
