carusoam Posted March 23, 2022 Report Posted March 23, 2022 Is it a replacement bulb for the existing light fixture? Best regards, -a- Quote
EricJ Posted March 23, 2022 Report Posted March 23, 2022 I had a set of those in my airplane until I replaced them with the Whelens. I still have the white one in the tail and it still works wonderfully. A buddy had them on his Cherokee and he liked them. On my airplane I couldn't make them flash, i.e., I could never get them to go into their flashing mode, which is just as well as it isn't legal at night. On other installations I've seen them be difficult to control, probably when the switch has a lot of bounce characteristic. You couldn't make all of them flash or not flash together reliably; some would and some wouldn't and sometimes when you didn't want them to one would anyway. I liked them because on my airplane they were reliably on when selected on. Quote
Hector Posted March 23, 2022 Report Posted March 23, 2022 I won a set as a door price and put them on my plane. They work great, including the flash function. Had them for probably 3 years now. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Quote
Hank Posted March 25, 2022 Report Posted March 25, 2022 This bears looking into! Both wings and the tail for $400, versus Whelen wingtips only for $1200+. Quote
philiplane Posted March 25, 2022 Report Posted March 25, 2022 (edited) They've been around for a number of years but they just had Spruce run a new ad for them to generate some new business. Everyone I know who tried them eventually took them out due to radio noise, or the bulbs falling apart, or individual segments failing. They apparently ran them through TSO testing, but you can see where the lights were only tested for radio interference in static mode, not flashing. Why would they not test them in strobe mode? Because they would not pass. Edited March 25, 2022 by philiplane Quote

The NavStrobe wingtip lights work ok, but their build quality does not inspire confidence. Quote
Unit74 Posted March 25, 2022 Report Posted March 25, 2022 The previous version worked very well for me. This is a newer version as the last ones were a paddle-style. I put on Orions all the way around and I’m not sure what I gained. Quote
Raptor05121 Posted March 26, 2022 Report Posted March 26, 2022 I have the Whelen Chroma series in my wingtips Quote
