Niko182 Posted January 26, 2022 Report Posted January 26, 2022 I departed Truckee today and had a decent amount of engine roughness. Landed again and left mag was doing pretty bad. Any one know where I can get one soon - ish. Looks like I'm getting a replacement engine within the next month or two so I don't really care if it's new or not. I just want something that can get me home. Thanks Nik 949 267 8813.
Boilermonkey Posted January 26, 2022 Report Posted January 26, 2022 Are you sure it's the mag and not one of the plugs gone bad? I had a similar problem last week (also expecting a new engine soon). The engine was rough and the EGT on #3 dropped when on the left mag. I was able to replace that plug and the problem went away. (sorry if this is obvious part of trouble shooting, people have different experience levels.)

N201MKTurbo Posted January 26, 2022 Report Posted January 26, 2022 If there is a mechanic, have him pull the points cover off and check if the gap went to nothing. If it did, just set it to about a 0.010 gap. Your internal timing will be close enough, it might be worthwhile to check the engine timing. It will probably get you home.
