Vance Harral Posted June 23, 2021 Report Posted June 23, 2021 I borrowed this picture from a for-sale ad, hope the owner doesn't mind. What is the purpose of the large exit scoop on the bottom of the fuselage, aft of the wing? Saw an airplane similar to this one on the ramp this week, and it's the first time I've seen a Mooney with this feature. Looking at a gallery of photos, some long bodies have it, some don't. Guessing it has something to do with a factory A/C option? Quote
MatthiasArnold Posted June 23, 2021 Report Posted June 23, 2021 Air condition heat exchanger outlet. The A/C heat exchanger inlets are positioned below the leading edges of the elevator (some people claim it’s the other way around but as far as I remember the service manual..) Best, Matthias 1 Quote
carusoam Posted June 24, 2021 Report Posted June 24, 2021 Triple eights are a lucky number in Eastern cultures… I would like to see if the MT spinner matches the cowling really well… +1 on AC related cooling air being dumped out the back… Nothing else uses as much air back there…. Or drains anything. Smaller bumps in that area include antennas for strike finders and other devices… Best regards, -a- Quote
