apenney Posted October 6, 2020 Report Posted October 6, 2020 Anyone have a photo of the rear of their landing gear where the inner door is next to the tire? Had a firm landing the other day and now I'm second guessing the clearance between the door and the tire.
kortopates Posted October 6, 2020 Report Posted October 6, 2020 There is not much you can do for inner door to tire clearance since the real clearance issue with closing the door in flight and eliminating any extra drag. That said there is not much clearance between the tire and door but should not be rubbing on a normal landing. Best to make the tire is fully inflated to your POH spec and using a quality tire. If the inner door really needs to come out to avoid rubbing on normal landings and the doors are properly rigged now (closing fully when up) its likely the entire gear wheel needs to go up into the wing further to increase the clearance between the tire and door when the gear is tucked up - that will amount to completely to re-rigging the gear and doors - if there is more room for the wheels to go up further.
apenney Posted October 7, 2020 Author Report Posted October 7, 2020 Thanks for the insight. I think I've just never paid that close attention to the actual space and was surprised.
