Skywarrior Posted September 19, 2011 Report Posted September 19, 2011 Hello, all - Need to install a replacement baggage door, then have its exterior painted to match its surroundings. Anybody in the Atlanta area who can do both the install and the repaint without having to send the plane to someone else to finish the job? Chuck M.
Parker_Woodruff Posted September 19, 2011 Report Posted September 19, 2011 Joe at Hawk Aircraft Painting down here in Tampa does good work and there's an A&P near his shop who has done work on Mooneys.
rbridges Posted September 24, 2011 Report Posted September 24, 2011 since it's a relatively small part, could a local auto body shop match the paint for you before it's installed? edit-never mind. I started thinking and they'd need your plane for the paint match.
laytonl Posted September 24, 2011 Report Posted September 24, 2011 There is a paint shop in Carrollton, Ga that should be able to do it. KCTJ. Lee
aerobat95 Posted September 24, 2011 Report Posted September 24, 2011 Some of the auto parts stores like O'Reilly can come out to the airport with some sort of device that can read your paint. They sell a paint called Imron or something like that and it is supposedly pretty good, I think it is a polyurethane. There is a company here in Enid that works on Cessna Caravans that I talked to and said it works nicely. I can ask them. Its pretty expensive and you have to get an activator and thinner as well. I am looking at having the front of my cowl and some parts of my wings touched up and thats what they recommended. Just a thought....good luck.
ReggieM Posted October 1, 2011 Report Posted October 1, 2011 I can also recommend Joe at Hawk Aircraft Painting. He did my E model 6 years ago and she's holding up really well. He's a really good guy, and has very reasonable pricing. http://www.hawkaircraftpainting.com/ - Reg
