We used Philips XC 20W50 straight mineral oil, it's in a black bottle. I think Charlie Melot (Zephyr) likes regular XC but id use what he recommends. Many, if not a majority, of engine shops recommend XC blue. We did a factory engine and Lycoming was adamant about straight mineral oil.

Just one word of caution. Yes, it should take no more than a few hours to break in your engine. That was my experience 2 overhauls ago. But on my latest it took somewhere between 30 and 50. Same procedure, different result. I can't explain why.
