I’m in the early stages of looking for a Mooney to buy, M20J to be specific, and I live in the Phoenix, AZ area. Based on my research if you want to fly a Mooney it best be near some experienced Mooney MX folks. Anyone here in the PHX area care to chime in on maintaining a Mooney here in the valley? Thx.

Several of the guys at Glendale aero service have Great experience. As for James. I was based there for 5 years. Great airport. I still drop in a few times a year.

There are a few good mechanics at Deer Valley, and a Mooney Service Center at Chandler.   There's a sheet metal specialist at Glendale, who is highly recommended if you bend anything, that has fixed a few Mooneys (one several times).  Generally there doesn't seem to be a problem getting Mooneys worked on around the valley.    I don't personally know any mechanics at Glendale, though.

Not exactly Phoenix... but we're based at KCMR (Williams, Clark Field) and there's a good Mooney mechanic here, if you want to make an easy flight north.  Tom owns 2 old Mooneys himself, actually, so he's both knowledgeable and a fan.
