How do I cleanup the landing gear truss?

unfortunately, noticed a bit of rust and chipped paint today.  also what paint to recover?

maybe I should sandblast and have them powder coated,  or old school chromed 8)

With the 100 hr minimum greasing schedule, mine is well preserved from rust or corrosion. Wire brush and spray can should be fine. Don't forget to check inside the main gear mud guards--use non metallic abrasives on the Al there and spray can it.

If you want to paint it you should really remove the gear legs. Surprisingly easy if you have the gear doughnut tools. Powder coating might not be the best option. It is a bit thick for the shaft that goes through the shock disks and some of the joint surfaces. It could possibly hide rust under the power coat.

Once you get them apart, sand blast and or wire brush, paint with a good anti-corrosion primer, than a good tough paint.

It is hard enough to paint them well hanging from a wire, super hard to get all the nooks and crannies while mounted in the wheel well.

Not a huge fan of rattle cans but I've used this stuff and it works pretty good over Zinc Chromate primer...don't waste your time with zinc phosphate primer, you'll die of old age before it cures

That stuff is great!! It’s consistent between cans. MEK doesn’t even dull it when it’s dry. That’s the best rattle can I can think of. Matches  my white better than the paint shop that “matched” my polyurethane.
