pontus Posted April 15, 2011 Report Posted April 15, 2011 Hello: My fuel booster in my 76' F model is not working. Any thoughts on trouble shooting or replacement options. The pump is getting power. Whats the most economical way to replace the pump if I have to? Thank you, Gus. Quote
Steve65E-NC Posted April 16, 2011 Report Posted April 16, 2011 I would start with a call to Russ at DG Supply, 800-446-8160 or 269-684-4440 for advice on evaluation, repair, rebuild. If you are getting power, then it may be the electric motor. When mine went out seven months ago, Dukes was in turmoil and everyone was having trouble getting product or parts. Your pump is newer and probably a better candidate for repair or rebuild. I found DG very helpful and knowledgeable on the repair/rebuild side. They seem to have a good inventory of parts. I also found Lasar very helpful. I assume yours is a Dukes Pump. Some folks suggested a change over to the other brand, but I could not see that as the way to go. Quote
jelswick Posted April 16, 2011 Report Posted April 16, 2011 My M20J just had the Weldon one fail about a month and a half ago. It had seized (power, but no pumping) and my mechanic sent it to Weldon to be rebuilt. I don't know price yet because I've not seen the detail on my annual bill I just paid (not bad though), but he said it came back like new. I believe he'd indicated the overhaul was $400-500, but would need to confirm that. Quote
5854Q Posted April 16, 2011 Report Posted April 16, 2011 The Dukes for my '65 M20C was replaced a short time ago. New retail was $700. Mechanics cost $565. I know this because his credit card did not have sufficient credit remaining so we used mine. Quote
