joepilotmooney Posted February 8, 2018 Report Posted February 8, 2018 All: I want to replace my old compass on my 78J - the plastic airpath housing constantly cracks, and the compass always needs maintenance for leaks. I have heard the SIRS might be a good replacement (see below), but it appears the whole pattern won't match what is there on the existing cage bar member where the existing airpath compass is. Any ideas or suggestions would be welcomed. Joe Allen Mpls 78J
CaptRJM Posted February 8, 2018 Report Posted February 8, 2018 Buy a Vertical Card Compass and don’t look back. They have a Mooney specific mount that uses the same mounting screws.
Piloto Posted February 8, 2018 Report Posted February 8, 2018 I replaced mine with a vertical card compass. Very happy with it. Easy to read and steer in turbulence. Standard on Robinson helicopter shakers. http://www.aircraftspruce.com/search/search.php?s=VERTICAL+CARD+COMPASS&x=0&y=0 José
