docket Posted March 1, 2011 Report Posted March 1, 2011 Here is a little self-promotion; albeit really its for the Mooney Ambassadors. We are having a fly in at Houston, Hobby Airport on March 19, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. If you go the the 1940 Terminal Website or the Mooney Ambassadors Website you can get some more information. The best thing is that Don Maxwell and Trey Hughes have both agreed to attend to give us their unique input on Mooney Airplanes. If you want to attend (and have not sent me an email) please do so. MooneyMitch Posted March 12, 2011 Report Posted March 12, 2011 I truly wish we could be there for this event. Everyone have a great flight to/from in your Mooney. Let all those on the ground know the positive aspects of General Aviation to their community. Quote
andysmith11 Posted March 17, 2011 Report Posted March 17, 2011 My Mooney is at Don Maxwell's for her annual, otherwise I would be there. Quote
mooneygirl Posted March 17, 2011 Report Posted March 17, 2011 Andy, you should just drive over for the lunch and fun time. All are welcome! Quote
Becca Posted March 19, 2011 Report Posted March 19, 2011 7 miles to HOU from our home at LVJ, but took a nice trip around Clear Lake to get there. Got a straight to LVJ on the way back. It was fun meeting y'all.. Quote
mooneygirl Posted March 19, 2011 Report Posted March 19, 2011 Becca, did you take any photos? How many airplanes came in?? Quote

docket Posted March 19, 2011 Author Report Posted March 19, 2011 Thanks, to all that made it. We had a great event today. Came down to Kemah tonight to go for an evening sail and saw a friend of mine that just landed on from the space station named Mike Barrett and he was more impressed by the Mooney Ambassador's T shirt than anything else. Besides the shuttle, he flies a 231. Quote
jetdriven Posted March 20, 2011 Report Posted March 20, 2011 Some photos on my profile. We had a great time and some nice people, and nice planes. Quote
Becca Posted March 20, 2011 Report Posted March 20, 2011 @Mooneygirl, my husband (jetdriven) just posted our photos @docket, Ha, you also sail? we also keep our (small) boat at Kemah. Small world.. Quote
mooneygirl Posted March 20, 2011 Report Posted March 20, 2011 Becca: love the photos, could you send me copies to MooneyAmbassadors@charter.net I haven't been able to master downloading the image from MooneySpace. thank you. Quote
MooneyMitch Posted March 20, 2011 Report Posted March 20, 2011 Ya gotta love this post by Don Maxwell regarding yesterday's Mooney event at Hobby. "Saturday, my son Paul & I attended the event at Hobby. After the event, Trey was having Lela load the jeep with all of their equipment. On her last load to the jeep, arms loaded, she was about to miss a step from the porch area. Seeing what was about to happen, Trey dove in front of her becoming a human step and saving Lela from a nasty fall. This bold act of chivalry cost Trey two broken ribs and a broken ankle. Being in excrutiating pain, Trey suffered thru the ride back to SAT to be at his local hospital. In confidence, he said in hind site , Lela's driving kept his mind off of the pain. So, three cheers for his heroic deed and wish Trey a speedy recovery.Don" Get well fast Trey so that you may continue to be so chivalrous!! Quote

howardld Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 Becca / Jetdriven, I talked to you when you landed at KLVJ. I was on the sailing team at LSU. When I first came to Houston I was racing J-24's on Galvelston bay! Quote
Becca Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 @howardld, Awesome! I raced dinghies in Clear Lake for a while, and Byron was racing on Parrot Tails. But I haven't found a good boat to crew on recently, I'd love to learn J-24s. Quote
docket Posted March 21, 2011 Author Report Posted March 21, 2011 Becca, I was the first tenant in slip C-7 back when it used to be called Lafayette Landing and managed by Niels Daughberg. That slip had some great parties. Everyone else, I posted a few of the many photos from the event this weekend at Hobby f/k/a Houston Municipal Airport a/k/a Howard Hughes Field (for 9 months). Quote
mooneygirl Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 Eric, great photos! Thanks for posting them. I love Don Muncy's paint scheme! HMMMM Quote
DonMuncy Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 You are too kind Jolie. My wife picked the scheme and colors, and the paint shop in Mena AR did the work; and I get the credit. Don Quote
mooneygirl Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 Well Kudos to your wife. Mitch picked out his scheme, I helped a bit only with the accent color titanium versus gold. And ArtCraft Paint in Santa Maria worked their magic. I am thinking about getting mine done, but I might have a cylinder issue at present.... Quote
MARZ Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 Sounds like it was a blast hopefully it will happen again - My fiance and I went to my Dad's birthday in Gulf Shores - landed at Jack Edwards great trip and smooth air all along the coast. 66 gallons round trip - ya gotta love it. Quote
andysmith11 Posted March 22, 2011 Report Posted March 22, 2011 Thanks Docket. I wanted to be there but had other obligations. Don had to take her back up to Longview for a squawk, but she should be back this week. Quote
1964-M20E Posted March 22, 2011 Report Posted March 22, 2011 Glad to hear ya’ll had a good time. The old terminal building in the background looks very similar to the terminal at Lakefront New Orleans (LFT). Hopefully they are restoring it. Quote
