Shadrach Posted November 6, 2023 Report Posted November 6, 2023 call Herber. Ask for Dwayne. Pricing was much better than Spruce when I did mine in 2021. https://www.herberaircraft.com Quote

BTW, if you join the Washington State Pilot's Association, Spruce offers a discount. The amount varies depending on the product, but for large purchases it may be worth it. https://www.wpaflys.org/member-discounts Quote
PT20J Posted November 6, 2023 Report Posted November 6, 2023 There is a spec in the service manual to determine when they need replacement. Quote

FlyingDude Posted November 6, 2023 Report Posted November 6, 2023 I recall seeing some attempts at making alternative products. Should I assume that they have not yielded useable products yet? Quote

I haven’t checked so I’m not saying you’re wrong. But, then why doesn’t my engine sag more or less as the temperature changes? And, wouldn’t the rubber be stiffer when it’s cold making it more likely to pass in the winter? Quote

The scenario for me was that mine passed inspection every year. At some point I jacked up the plane during a period of sustained temperatures >30°. The shocks did not expand and the gear had a noticeable amount of slop in its travel. I checked again after an hour on the jacks and everything was back to normal. I ordered new shock discs shortly there after. 2 Quote
