article said the pilot got out, assuming it was actually the pilot I'll be optimistic that it indicates there were no passengers, since they would be out first hopefully.

Imaginem my surprise--I just rode the big aluminum tube into BDL today . . . Saw this on the news a little while ago. I think I heard two people aboard, one got out before the fire . . . .

Neither name came up in FAA airman registry, maybe paper has a name wrong. Re aircraft, the fathers name was on a PA-28-180, but looks as though it had been sold recently.

Apparently a Cirrus SR-22...N94LP.  Owner previously had a PA-28 and very recently acquired the Cirrus. RIP and best wishes to the survivor.
