peevee Posted November 19, 2016 Report Posted November 19, 2016 (edited) I'm trying to figure out what subscriptions I need, and the more I look the more confused I get. The IFD540 is straightforward, just nav data, I don't think it's worth having chart data with the aspen on board. The aspen is a 1500 with synthetic vision. Seattle Avionics sells what I think is a chart only subscription for $299, described as "Each subscription includes FAA-certified geo-referenced IFR and VFR approach plates, airport diagrams, Mins, Arrival Procedures, and Departure Procedures." Then Jepp sells a navdata subscription for $450 a year, then a terrain once a year he said for $240, I asked and he said the terrain included the synthetic vision data as well. Am I getting this right? I need a jepp ifd540 sub, a seattle avionics sub if I want charts on the aspen, then a jepp navdata and occasional terrain update? don't know how I initially missed it, but marauder explained it pretty well here, so nvm I guess Edited November 19, 2016 by peevee Quote

There are two subs for the Aspen A. jep navdata....... same as #1 ABOVE. This is redundant B. Seattle approach charts for the MFD. This displays the approach plate on the MFD and provides your plane location overlaid on the screen (very nice situational awareness) Quote

Cruiser Posted November 19, 2016 Report Posted November 19, 2016 (edited) none at all, in fact the opposite if you want to use the MFD to lookup nav info instead of the IFD540 it needs to be current so the correct data is shown Edited November 19, 2016 by Cruiser clarification Quote
