  1. Hello again, all. I am pursuing a few Mooneys and hope to acquire one soon. I will be financing some of the airplane but I am a little fuzzy on what the insurance companies will require as far as training and sign offs before I start flying the Mooney. Does anyone know what will be required and if there is any place around Houston where I can get instruction in an E, F, or maybe even a J? That way my high performance and complex sign offs will be taken care of. Thanks in advance!
  2. That Mooney was owned by a acquaintance of mine and has spent the last several years of its life operating out of Leeward Air Ranch. It is very familiar with grass.
  3. She is very enthusiastic about flying and I think she will work towards her license in the near future. I would like to complete my instrument rating and be a little more educated/experienced when she does her private. Then I'll have to worry about getting something she can train in I guess.
  4. Thanks, all! I have found some good info and was able to order one for my own knowledge (pre-airplane).
  5. Since you're already looking at these things, do you have any idea how tall the center stack can be? I'm trying to figure out what all can be fit radio and GPS-wise. Is there ever any issue with the depth of trays like there is on my Cherokee?
  6. Is there somewhere I can either purchase a hard copy or download a digital POH for a mid to late 60s E? I have explored all the usual suspects but no joy. Thanks in advance!
  7. Hi again, all. Sorry to jump right in but I am eyeing a couple of E models and wold like to make a move soon so I have really been doing my homework here lately. I have about 270 hours, most of which took place in my Cherokee 180. I would like to work on my instrument rating soon and am wondering if an E model is too much airplane with which to pursue this. Of course I would want to become extremely proficient with it beforehand. Any advice or input is appreciated!
  8. What was the deciding factor between the JPI and the MVP-50?
  9. Sounds promising... to burn the same fuel and have roughly the same room the Mooney seems like the perfect step up given speed, simplicity, and efficiency.
  10. Good day, all. I am currently trying to sell my early '63 Cherokee 180 (pre-stretched fuselage of '73) so I may upgrade to an E and was wondering how the rear seat of a short Mooney compares to that of my Cherokee. I assume like me, many pilots here started out in Cherokees. Can I plan on about the same level of comfort for rear seat pax? Mine is not great for traveling in the back but it is tolerable for a couple of hours and I would be well pleased if the Mooney was as comfortable. Thanks in advance.
