Wonderful! That is really exceptional.

Definitely use Aeroskill for your Mooney rather than Troyes if you can. I am seriously impressed with them and it takes a lot to do that.

Andrew- BTW, I certainly meant no harm or detraction about your beautiful airplane- it is stunning, and exactly why I didn't mention anything until others started talking about your cotter pins.

I think you should PM Clarence and ask his opinion- I bet he's seen it more often than me.

No harm or  detraction taken. We have asked questions around cotter pins and it is all ok.

Glad you like her, now I just have to get the other partners to stop using me as a bank. :)

So this was an unexpected "surprise".....

we have the control lock that locks behind the rudder pedals and then has two "hooks" that go over the yokes.  Having had the yokes covered, the hooks now dont go over the yokes as the "loops" on the control lock do not know have the necessary circumference.  In addition the distance between the two horns of the yoke has narrowed.  As a consequence we will have a new upper part of the control lock made so it fits (with a little modification so it does not damage the yokes' leather.

Andrew, the more I study your paint scheme the more impressive it is. You've managed to make our sleek profile appear even sleeker with the way the dark blue is used to lower the roof line and lengthen the line of the windows. Well done! You may have told us... is that a Scheme Design? Perhaps a European art studio? Your own layout?

Morning Bob

the Scheme principally was done by Scheme Designers with input from ourselves.  We went through a ton of photos of Mooneys in various schemes. We then chose a few that had details we liked, the tail solid colour, a line here etc.  We definitely wanted a dark colour on the cowling like we had had previously.  I think it helped Scheme Designers that we are Designers as well so understood the "process". Craig then took our ideas and produced a number of designs (i think 6 in total) in various colour variations.  We then chose a design we liked, tweaked it with a bit of to and fro and Scheme Designers produced the final design once we had signed off.

I too like the dark blue around the windows, that is 100% Scheme Designers. On the plans I had not seen it as lengthing the window line and lowering the roof line but you are right and others have pointed out the same.

I am very happy with how she looks now. My plane partner was at the airfield on Saturday and took all the adulation from everyone walking past.  Including most of the cafe regulars. So he is happy as well. :)

I am glad you all like it too and thank you for your praise.

Now we just have to do the panel......

Ah yes...that will probably be the "easy part", given what you've been through for 4+ months with paint and interior.  :-)

Very happy for you Andrew...what a beautiful job, and thanks so much for taking time to share it in such detail.

That's the great thing about Mooneyspace, we all learn from each other. I am happy to share the experience and of others can learn from that then we all win.

Bring your wallet to the Mooney Summit, Andrew. L3 and Avidyne will be there and I am working on them for a few fantastic silent auction items again.

Oh don't depress me.  All I want is a little IFR Gps thingy thing and a little HSI that works properly. What could possibly go wrong.

"Well sir there are the known knowns, the known unknowns and the unknown unknowns, but apart from that it will all be fine".

Even the all glass panels come with a fair amount of unknowns...

Check out Steven757's panel to make his unknowns, known to you and yours.  :)

Of course his is in a Long Body so the physical layout will be different.

Best regards,

Anybody ever do a full G1000 installation? Probably cheaper to buy a plane with it, but thought I would ask.

There isn't a Mooney STC for the G1000, at least in the aftermarket. Mooney owns the installation data/approval as a mod to the TC. As much angst as current Mooney G1000 owners have gone thru for updates I would not go looking to install one myself. I'd rather have the flexibility of Aspen or G500 or whatever else might come out this year vs. the closed G1000 system.

Andrew,

There is a recent thread update around here for the topic of control locks...

I'm in the big rubber band group...

Best regards,

Our trip to Mesquite, NV was the first time I have had it parked overnight outside of the hangar. I opted for two bungee cords from the right rudder pedals to the right yoke, and a smaller one between the yokes. It held everything tight in place.
